Autosaving and Pausing huge wait time

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2016 2:17 am

Whenever I autosave, quicksave, pause, unpause, it takes way longer than usual.

As someone who likes the game to autosave as much as possible, this is game-breaking for me.

I've tried exiting the game and restarting my console, but the problem is the same.

Anyone else have this problem? Please tell me there's a fix.

Yeah, I seem to be getting the same issue and it's driving me nuts. As far as I can tell, it seems to be related to the new patch, as I was playing the other day with no issue. Hoping for a fix on this soon.

Same problem here - this has occurred after the 1.3 patch.

I have horrendous slowdown in the following situations:

- When fast travelling anywhere on the map

- When opening and closing the main menu

- When saving (including Quick saving)

- When loading

- When entering or exiting buildings (probably due to the auto-save)

Last night (Australia time) I was experienced freezes of up to 20 seconds. I have done the usual troubleshooting - hard resetting my console, deleting old save games and nothing changes this so the only conclusion I can come to is that this is caused by the patch. Considering the amount of time you spend entering and exiting buildings in this game, this slowdown makes it unplayable for me.

I hope Bethesda Support will update us on this issue and provide a resolution.

Hope we can expect a resolution shortly.

Throw me on that list. Totally locks the game up for 10-20 seconds when ever I pause to save.

Having the the same issue after installing the newest update. Wait times are making the game unplayable. It's a shame because I had just gotten back into it, but now it looks like I will have to take another break until this problem is resolved. The game is taking more than twice as long to load when you pause, save, as well as when you enter or exit buildings. I hope this issue is resolved soon or I won't be able to continue playing.

Looks like our cousins on PS4 are experiencing the same issue:

Out of interest, are you guys using an external hard drive? I'm pretty sure my copy is installed on my external.

Maybe it does, but over on PS4 I know of at least two people (one of them me) who don't use the external hard drive and have the same issue. The numbers are probably higher, but what I'm trying to say is don't start replacing your accessories or change your storage space format, as I think it is not the primary culprit.

An external HDD is not the problem since I use a stock HDD and have the same freezing on my PS4. So we can debunk that one really fast.

While this is not an ideal fix; taking your console offline before starting the game solved this issue for me. Hopefully it doesn't cause issues with syncing data once the problem is properly fixed; but there is no real reason to be online in Fallout 4 anyway.

Thanks for the updates on the external HDD guys - saved me the trouble of copying the game over and experimenting with that configuration :)

Knew you were gonna do it, lmao

Dude, if this works, I love you. I, personally, don't care if the save files don't go to the cloud, so long as I can play the game until the hotfix is out.

Edit: One of the PS4 boys confirmed it to be an actual workaround for us as well. Cheers dude, I hope devs can use this info to narrow down the search for the culprit. And yes, I love you now.

Playing right now with zero problems; faster than ever; and yeah who cares if the saves go online. Hope it works for everyone.

I've played about an hour today. No issues with delay/freezing with quicksave, fast travel, pausing or regular saving. I believe I still have Cloud Syncing on, but I only have one Xbox One so I'm never jumping saves with another console. Also before I quit the game, I first quit to the loading screen of Fallout 4, then I shutdown the Xbox One. Been doing that routine since Fallout 3 on PS3.

My Xbox One is the 1TB with Fallout 3/4 bundle, with the game installed on the internal HD.

So far this has been the best patch. The new draw distance has really made the game more enjoyable and Diamond City isn't so jerky with fps drops like before.

Hellooooooo Bethesda - any comment or update on this?

I shouldn't have to take my console offline to play your game. Especially as I didn't have to prior to this patch.
