we started gaming early i guess.... we had multiplayer games with lame graphics back then... which seemed so advanced at that time...
like Doom multiplayer, Heretic, Quake 1. Last time there were no lobbies where you can search for server... you have to 'call' your friend's modem IP to play at amazingly slow telephone speed. There were other 'fake 3D' games like wolfenstein, rise of the triads, hexen, duke nukem 3d.
Games that made history were Quake 2, Halflife, Counterstrike, Unreal Tournament...which made their game engines available for other ppl to make games...such as the Quake engine, halflife engine, UT engine.....
these sparked off other more advanced gaming engines like the Frostbite in battlefield, and cryengine.
younger generation guys like you are luckier to start off with beautiful games like these... who knows what type of games we will see in 10 years time
