I wish to train my other armor skills (Heavy, Medium, Light Armor) without gaining levels in my Unarmored skill. Right now I have a full set of Bonemold armor, and noticed I was slowly gaining experience in Unarmored. Am I missing a piece of armor? I assumed I needed a pair of gloves, but don't my bracers take that spot? Do I need to add a shield? Is it possible to train my armor skills without gaining Unarmored levels? Thanks.

Are you wearing the helmet?

It's the lack of a shield. All my two handed weapon users gain unarmoured points occasionally. Out of interest, why do you want to avoid training unarmoured? Even if it slows the rate at which your other armour skills train it shouldn't slow it too much.

Unarmored happens to be one of my major skills, and I'm trying to level efficiently (10 major/minor for x attribute, 10 miscellaneous for y attribute, + 1 luck) without over-leveling. I'll have to add a shield, but won't that also train my Block skill? (Which I also don't want to train)

Adding a shield will train your block only if you block a hit, so if you have low block you don't have to worry...

I bought a shield, and yes, it does allow me to avoid unarmored training, but I still block (and advance my level in it). It's not a big deal, and won't affect me in the long run (I didn't plan on using block for my attributes anyway), but I am still sort of puzzled that I am forced to train another skill while training one of my armor skills. If you equip the shield first and then a 2-handed weapon you will not block or train unarmored.
