Avoiding Spoilers But Am I Overmatched

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 8:37 pm

Hi All,

A veteran of FO3 here but I seem to be dying a lot! I am following the main story for a while but I am coming up against not just one enemy or two but hordes of them. I am wondering if I am rushing through things a bit quick. The weapons I have are pistols and rifles with damage level of between 10 and 24 but I seem to be dying very easily. I've also found it hard to find decent armour, I am now level 7 and I am wondering if I am better avoiding the main quest until I have levelled up a bit more.

Difficult to be too specific as I don't want to spoil anything for anyone

Dying seems to be much more prevalent in Fo4 from the reviews I've read and what players are saying. Most suggest that either you're going somewhere you shouldn't yet or simply rethink your loadout.

I would level up some more. Once you get the hang of the game, you could probably advance into the main story at the level you are at.

Yeah think I may start again and just look around more before starting the main story, just seems that I am overmatched by sheer numbers rather than the strength of the enemy in question. At one point I was met by at least 10 ghouls of various strengths and I just had a couple of pistols, and pretty weak armour! That was just one example , maybe it's the lack of proper armour that's the main issue rather than my weapons. Need to re-think

My character died three times trying to beat that deathclaw (the one everyone knows about from the official footage), and that was with power armor and a mini-gun. Deathclaws ain't pushovers like they were in Fallout 3. So far I'm loving it. I was pleasantly surprised how good it looks on medium (which is what the game set for my GTX 660). Some of the leaked footage out there made the game look far worse than it actually looks.

I was disappointed that apparently you can't make named saves anymore through the console. When you try to do it, it seems to work but the save doesn't show up in the load menu. I also miss that auto-move key (the one that was Q in previous BGS games that would set you to moving forward without having to hold the W key down).

EDIT: Just checked my save folder. The console makes the saves but for some reason they don't appear when you select LOAD in the menu. Strange.

Auto move is an option, it's "X" in my game by default, I hardly ever use it but it's there
