Awesome patch...if only it worked

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 10:53 am

Yeah like topic says, downloaded the new update from steam for the game..Tried to play the game, EXACTLY the same problem as before, launcher is the only thing that opens. I've had just about enough of this piece of junk, my rig is more than powerful enough to handle this "software" so lets see if I can actually get a response this time

Quick specs.

Intel® Core™ i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.6GHz
16384MB RAM

AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series 3GB

Ample harddrive space so I think I kinda have the "min" specs for the game. All my drivers are updated, enough with the new one that came out today... will it run...course not.

I've tried the whole compatibility/admin/

Unless a fix is specifically named for your issue don't assume it will solve it. It honestly hasn't been that long and the specific issues Radeon 7XXX series users are experiencing are probably complicated affairs with a very low priority compared to the optimisations and quest fixes that will help everybody and/or more common and recent GPUs.

Low enough priority Bethesda couldn't give a crap about whether or not people can actually play their games, even though we paid for the flipping thing, no response from anyone in bethesda just people offering ideas, or saying we aren't important enough, honestly mate, do one and shove off, the fact that people can't even play the dam thing I doubt is low priority, plus saying that the patch didn't identify my issue, your right there, figured that given the whole General memory and stability improvements doesnt really link with much, specially since like they say, General, maybe I'm just totally pissed off from being ignored after spending money on a piece of crap thats just sitting on my hard drive with no [censored] being given to anyone but their pockets, theres a lot of people having this problem so take your low priority and shove it.

Ban me all you want, doesnt change the fact that people are getting treated like crap and shown the door.

Easy there cowboy. A few things:

- The issues with the 7XXX have, to my memory, been identified as a specific issue so your crashes probably aren't caused by the same thing other peoples' crashes are. This patch may well have fixed many people's issues even if yours are untouched.

- Again, it has been two weeks. This is a huge, complex piece of software and gamesas isn't exactly a corporate giant. They're a well thought of, successful studio but they are relatively small and make complex sandbox games for three different platforms simultaneously.

- Frequently such compatability issues aren't exclusively a software manufacturer's fault. The 7XXX series is not just dated but, from a brief search, no longer officially supported by AMD. I had issues with gamesas games back in the X800 days because of ATI driver arcitecture issues that were never addressed.

Just have a look at the list of known and reported issues, you'll get an idea of the scale of the task.

Exactly my point, with the sheer scale of this, why in the hell would they release it, the whole we didn't foresee all these problems, piss off, that many problems isn't something that gets swept under the rug and ignored until someone makes a fuss, which I fully intend to do, I will moan as much as I have to get actually get a response from these guys, I'm not moaning at you, I'm just annoyed at how quickly everyone is at defending them, yeah they have a job to do, let them do it, They've been operating for nearly 30 years, I get they dont have thousands of employees so they can't be everywhere at once, but not a single response from 6 [censored] emails to their "support", the fact that NO ONE, here has had a reply from them that I've seen apart from one person responding to a select handful of posts is ridiculous, what is the point of having a support team, when they dont support anything but their pockets? Look at it from the point of view of a person who can't play the game, and has played all of the fallout/elder scrolls games, correct me if I'm wrong, but elder scrolls online, is their game too no? how is it I have had support in that game, with a response in HOURS, when for fallout I've not gotten a response in WEEKS, big flipping difference there, same company, same building, if they are that [censored] with the game and all its problems, surely they have support their other teams? or maybe I'm just living in a different world where the place I work at, if one department is struggling, another will help out.

Rant over for now, lets see if anyone from bethesda would actually speak up and admit they [censored] up

The 'sheer scale' doesn't really match up with the facts. By all accounts this is actually the most stable, bug free game they've put out which, in turn, makes it the most stable, bug-free Fallout game ever released. There are way more broken games out there. As for 'forseeing these problems', the sheer, staggering variety of drivers, OSes, libraries, CPUs, GPUs and other factors in such a hugely complex piece of software makes this inevitable. I get that you're irritated but with software this hugely complex put out by a relatively small studio this is a simple reality of these games. The fixes will come with time. It has only been two weeks since launch.

Also, for the record, Elder Scrolls Online has the same publisher, (Zenimax) but was made by a separate studio.

I don't thing the problem is because the outdated GPU.

Fallout 4 suggests as min. req a HD 7870. So if the HD 7800 series are supported officialy from the devs, why not the HD 7900 series?

As for the drivers, the HD 7900 can use the latest 15.30.1025 drivers from ati as well. So that GPU is very well supported.

And lastly, the patch doesn't mention anythting about a fix for crashes, does it?

But even so, in my opinion there will be no patch specifically for crashes.

A computer crash is a vague meaning, because it can refer to a general set of problems, that may have something in common with that particular game, or even not.

There are people out there that can play that game, even with an HD 7850. !!!

Those buddies can run the game with quite older GPUs as the OP.

Don't tell my as an excuse, you don't like Reddit sites. !!! :P

I never said the 7900 series wasn't supported by the devs, I said there are known issues with the 7XXX range. It works for some but a large number of 7XXX owners have this described issue. As for 'using the drivers', you can install them but the specifics of the 7XXX series are no longer being optimised, updated or fixed. AMD has moved on. Either way there will almost certainly be a patch to attempt to reduce this specific set of issues at some point.

Thats a good point Mark, too busy being pissed off but hey, and like I said, is it a crash when the launcher opens, and clicks play, and launcher reopens, a crash is something that shuts it down altogether, my problem is I can't get into the game for it to actually crash, how can a game crash when the launcher is as far as I can go,

It's not like they are deliberately trying to make your life hell. I think you need to take a step back and chill a bit.

This is PC gaming. Some people have issues, others do not. Sadly you are one of the ones with issues, where I have had few.

Just a thought, but is it possible it's something more software related on your rig? Is it a kludged 10 year old Windows install for example?

Not trying to pick a fight or anything, but the game does work for many so my first hunch is it's something, probably software related that may be your issue. Possibly not, it is just a hunch.

That's the BIG mystery - and of course, what i would do in this situation (except staring at the screen without ever launcing the game...)

Spoiler

I would re-install Windows fresh with only the bare minimum of drivers, and the game of course. lol

Already tried that one mark :P even used a 4th hard drive, removing all of my others, still does nothing, also, saying I need to chill and take a step back, perhaps sure, but how else does someone get noticed without kicking up a ruckus? sometimes making a fuss, moaning and groaning left right and center is the only way to get heard, so this might upset a few people, but honestly beyond caring of being ignored, if waiting patiently has no effect on all of the reports I've sent it, the topics on here, and their support site with not even an inkling of a response, its time to step up and make a damn fuss, worse they can do is ban me, least I know I actually get noticed, also wolf, if you noticed the spoilers, you'll notice that its not an old version, hell I wiped the [censored] drive Sunday, so yeah its a fresh install, all updated drivers, yeah we all have unique rigs, but how can such a large group have problems using the same series of cards, sure they are all different, but they all have two things in common that I can see, 1 they are same series, 2 they all have problems with this piece of crap that was released bugged as [censored] that doesnt work for some,

Oh, boy...sorry to hear that.

Actually to be honest i would be angry also. There is no doubt about it.

---------

Only for the history, i owned that game on my PS4. Yes i owned, but not anymore.

Because after 25 hours in, a quest has bugged out or whatever, and i couldn't complete it. (aside some other minor glitches)

I really don't have the time and I'm not in the mood actually to start the whole game over. So Fallout 4 is history for me.

Also on a console you can't do much about glitches anyway...

But as a computer technician i am really curious why on the same hardware (more or less) and the same platform the game does play on some PCs, and does not on others.

Damn, i don't have the money and the appropriate hardware to buy that game and try it until it smokes. lol (even it it's tempting to be honest...) :P

Your thread title is misleading. The patch did not address your issue, so should not have assumed it would fix it.

You don't think it'd be even a tiny bit funny if he came here raising up a fuss making out bethesda to be thieves over something that is solved by a pretty common troubleshooting step for issues with 3d applications? Not even a little? I dunno how you cope.

The person is unhappy since he/she is having issues trying to play the game. The OP could have been a bit more friendly with stating what the issue is. That usually winds up with getting better support.

Your right I could of been a bit more friendly with my methods, but saying that usually winds up getting better support from Bethesda is total rubbish. I've been nice, I've waited patiently since day one, sent in half a dozen emails to their support team following their links, haven't had a word from them, yeah I was misleading with the title, point was to see if anyone actually looked at it, low and behold not a single word from Bethesda, I'm tired of waiting with no reply, tried of being ignored, bet[censored]sda need to sort something out and ignoring the little guy is pissing ms off. So yeah I'll make a fuss and moan and be as loud as I can til they pull their fingers out of their asses. Like I stated earlier the quiet patient road doesn't work with them, so the next tactic is to [censored] and moan til they ban me as it's pretty obvious they don't care, upon which would further prove my point about be[censored]sda ignoring the little guys

"I can't get what I want so I'm going to throw a tantrum until I get banned." They should ban you just for saying that, and save themselves some trouble.

They are welcome to do so, the fact of the matter is, by consumer rights, If the digital content didn’t meet these quality rights, you would be entitled to a repair or a replacement of the digital content where practical. The fact is, the game doesnt run on my computer, which based on bethesdas own admission, given that my specs are higher than their min suggested specs, it should work, it does not, to get this crap fixed, generally its considered customer service to respond to complaints and issues, which I have both, and yeah since being the quiet guy sitting in the corner isn't working why the hell shouldn't I stand up in front the crowd and start moaning, gotta get noticed somehow, if it takes flaming them, and their piece of crap software, so be it.

Waits for next post to be about how I get consumer rights wrong :D

I would hate for you to be one of my clients with that black and white attitude. This isn't a jacket with a broken zip, its a a complex combination of algorithms and binary data that is subject to debugging requirements. Some of those requirements can't be finalised before launch, because no company has access to the near limiltess hardware and software states it would be used for.

Bethesda are patching the game. They are "repairing" it.

If you're so bummed get a refund and wine about the next game that needs a patch.

As always your thoughts are welcomed.

Yeah I get they can't count for every possible eventuality, I'm not a moron, I'm just a guy whose sick and tired of being [censored] over and ignored, the level of customer service here is ridiculous, if they even have people working in customer service, which lately I am starting to doubt that fact, you purchase something from them, doesnt matter whether its software/hardware/goods whatever, if its not working as advertised, generally we moan about it to the people we bought it from, or in this case who manufactured it, and yes, I expect a [censored] response within a decent amount of time, not over 2 weeks without so much as a sentence, so yeah my black and white attitude isn't necessarily about the fact the game doesnt work, its the fact I am being ignored, sure they are "Fixing Issues" that doesnt mean they ignore every customer whose made a complaint, we all get directed here, from their twitter/websites/support so where the [censored] are they? Whats the point in sending someone somewhere and just ignorning it in the hope it goes away
