Awful game

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 6:38 pm

There's so much wrong with this game I would like a refund. I didnt want to have a hugh expectation of this game and the truth is it still disappointed massively. Just a few things which stood out;

AI is terrible, you can kill the first Deathclaw by simply walking through a small gap near the car and he keeps circling until you destroy him with the minigun. Other enemies stand there whilst you keep shooting them or walk past. I preferred to adventure alone as Dogmeat screwed my stealth up and got in the way. Sentry guns are easily dispatched by shooting round a corner where the turret can't hit you.

When you die the ragdoll models are the worst in any game ever. Should be cinematic but embarrasing.

The first faction use pea shooters but are happy to give your character power armour and a minigun, something you got at the end of FO3, within the first 30 minutes of the game.

Average graphics, some objects cant be moved for physics limitations.

Dogmeat can't die, one of the best parts of fo3 was when you made a mistake and he got took out, you were made responsible for wrong actions.

While i agree, you're not allowed to say that here.. If you dont want your post locked and labeled "flame bait", you better give the game perfect 10/10's.. Because thats apparently okay...

Like so many other great games, the new generations prefer simplicity, to anything deep and meaningful.. Just give'em a crosshair, and lots of guns...10/10

I wouldn't say it's awful but it's definitely not the most amazing game of the year either.

Dude, you beat the Deathclaw with an environment exploit and complain about the fight svcking?

As for the Power Armor, that was an AWESOME scene.

The Deathclaw took like 200 bullets.

They're no longer complete wastes of space and Power Armor actually is cool again.

Considering I'm probably going back to Witcher 3 and leaving Fallout 4 on the back burner until the end of the year.. Hopefully at that point they make the game playable.

I've already sold my copy, got a very decent price for it since it was so new and barely used. I recommend doing it quickly though, its value will only go down as time goes on.

Sofajockey not everyone can sit there and play a broken game and pretend it's perfect. A lot of people are mad that they can't even give the game a chance because game breaking bugs constantly remind you of it's failures.

Indeed, it's so compellingly awful that I feel the need to explain why I felt compelled to wash my hands of it within several days (something I've almost never done with a game in my life, only several times in decades) of playing it to the people responsible for creating this monstrosity.

mc858 they can't close down the reviews, and those tell the ultimate story. This game was rushed for greedy reasons, and it's garbage. Hands down Witcher 3 smokes this game, and will probably be my choice of game until they fix this garbage.

You list extremely minor factors, and call it an awful game. I don't think you know what you are talking about.

Insane how are game breaking bugs minor factors? Main quests are broken, settlements are broken, saves are broken, a lot of things are broken. That's like holding the engine of your race car together with gorilla glue and calling it driveable.

It's not really awful if your expectations are low. But to think of building those junk fences around settlements when starting this game over a second time seems pretty boring! By the way the farm settlement gets attacked by ghouls, so the settlement should have a pit construction available that they could fall into.

Anyway it's a perfect beta version for testing. And the graphics is awesome! (GTX 770)

He never mentioned bugs. The only things he complained about were so minor they never crossed my mind. The only bug I have come across is disappearing ammo, but I used the console command to get it back so it wasn't a big deal. The only 2 other things that I have a problem with is the crap optimisation for AMDs and the dialogue wheel.

Are we looking at the same forum?

Plenty of critical topics on here. In fact the vast majority are. Those who want to converse rationally can have open topics that are critical, those who aren't will get a thread locked. That simple.

Moderators are volunteers, we aren't employed by Bethesda and the standing rule here has always been to allow criticism.

No moderator particularly worries what people feel about the games here. It's not my game, it doesn't bother me at all if people have concerns - I often have plenty of my own.

What is my concern is the manner in which members express their opinions - which we expect to be civil.

Oh my expectations were already incredibly low, believe me. With Skyrim how could they not have been, you can even go back and look at my old posts on this forum prior to release, pretty much every worry I had with the game was shot down by certain posters on here and I was attacked for "not having played it yet".

Well all those worries turned out to be completely well founded, as those features were have been considered near universally terrible on these forums in implementation as well as theory.

This.

Probably the biggest faltering of Bethesda's PR campaign is that it engendered extreme levels of hype, almost impossible to assuage or fulfill.

Now Bethesda is guilty (in the eyes of many) of only providing a good game when a revolutionary one was implied.

In retrospect it's odd that Bethesda expected to satiate the hype of millions with such an iterative game; that's not to say it isn't good in it's own right (i'm deeply enjoying it) but the ambition showed doesn't match the hype displayed.

If you companions died it would ruin the entire companion system.

Both dogmeat and the detective would be dead for me already, just because i ran into difficult enemies and my dumb companions got themselfs shot up while i was manuvering around.

So no if you want companions to die enjoy making a mod and it being the worst mod ever made.

The graphics are actually fine, but yes deathclaw's AI could be improved to jump over obstacles, however that would also make them ten times more deadly and unkillable in many situations unless you are fully prepared to deal with one.

They don't give it to you.....they just point you in the right direction to shoot your way to it. It's well explained in game why they can't do it themselves. As far as FO3 and power armor, you can get an indestructible suit of T-51b (along with multiple sets of Outcast armor, along with an immense haul of weapons and ammunition if you use the Gary glitch) in the first couple hours if you have the Operation Anchorage DLC.....heading straight there from Vault 101 is doable....along with the power armor training to enable you to use it. With the introduction of fusion cores, it takes a while before you can run around in power armor all the time so it's not as bad as people critical of this portray it as.

And another complaint linked to this one, which has appeared in other threads.....that the Minutemen invite you in so early...is also silly when you take into account that the faction has exactly one member and you had just delivered him and his charges from certain death so he has good reason to trust you.

Whiler I'm quite enjoying FO4, it is far from perfect and I find it disappointing that they have chosen not to use practically any of the improvements in NV, such as the Faction system and ammo crafting. It's also irritiating to find pipe guns in places that have been untouched since the war....why don't you call them out on things like that?

It is a little odd that Bethesda's over-hyping massive PR campaign for this release involved all of... what, that E3 video from way back, a live-action teaser, and those SPECIAL videos? ;)
