Awkward Dragon flying...

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:50 pm

Hey, I'm just speaking my mind here.
There were parts in the trailer where the dragon is flying close enough to the mountains and I wondered if we're going to get the occasional "Dragon crashes into mountain and bounces awkwardly into the air again" glitch/bug.

So, I thought of a feature that could be cool:

Imagine you're being hunted by a dragon, you take a hard right trying to cover yourself with one part of the mountain, so instead of crashing into the mountain and doing the "glitch" i mentioned, he angles his feet directly to the mountain and "jumps" off it into the air again.

I don't know if I made my point correctly since I'm not a native english speaker.

Opinions?

That's actually a pretty good idea. Hopefully gamesas does something like that so we don't get any weird collision glitches. Either that or make the game able to properly animate a dragon crashing into the side of a mountain.

And don't worry, your English is just fine.

Sounds like a good idea. We don't know if they'll feature an animation the likes of this but you should have posted this in here. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1161098-dragons-a-thread-to-discuss-all-things-about-skyrims-dragons/

Considering the 2yrs of work by a small team for just dragons, I'd imagine something to counter said "glitch" would already be in place.

Hey.. at least we have flying things back.. and no matter what.. It's got to be better then morrowind's awkward flying animations. :)
I'm thinking though that dragons won't be free flying beasties.. they'll most likely be in scripted dragon areas won't they? I mean your not going to be seeing dragons unless your in an area that has dragons. Or are there going to be other dragons besides the main dragons that we'll be hunting down? I feel like I'm talking backwards and not making any sense.

......Prevalent as mudcrabs they will not be so dragons not be in dragonless areas!!?

My brain is obviously not working correctly at the moment.

I don't believe that's true.

From my http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1161098-dragons-a-thread-to-discuss-all-things-about-skyrims-dragons/ thread that for some reason is not good enough for asking these questions in.

"Dragons are a regular threat in the game world. They ravage towns and fly free meaning you'll have to face them repeatedly in single combat. Be careful for they wield astounding power." - GI

"while talking to people a dragon might attack and you'll see them running for cover and guards running to their posts" - Spanish Mag Article

Dragon encounters are not scripted, they can appear anywhere that is outside including towns and cities. It has been mentioned in the Game Informer article.
