Axe perk question.

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 3:04 pm

In the one handed weapon tree, the talent that adds a bleeding dot to the axe. How does it work? Does it apply each time you hit with the axe? If so is it not clipping the dot by refreshing it anytime it takes more than one hit to kill something? If you're dual wielding two axes do the dots stack? How does this all work out? I really would like to dual wield axes, but it would be completely useless if the dot clips itself, or makes one of my axes either apply nothing, or erase the first one. I asked someone and they told me it was like a quick poison, but poisons are only applied once then you have to use a new one, and I don't think they stack. So how does this bleed actually work?

same boat. I love the art style of axes to but if the bleed is useless I wouldn't feel right using them.

Is there any way to test this ourselves? I know one hit with an axe causes the bleed just by looking at the hp of the enemy, but I have no idea how to test and see what happens after multiple hits, or with two axes.

?Hack and Slash (3) - Attacks with war axes cause extra bleeding damage (Additional ranks raise the bleeding damage) (Requirements: One-Handed 30, Armsman)

Are you sure this is a DOT? This isn't WoW. It could be a one-time, 25% of the damage swing bleed instantly applied per hit. There's nothing that says this is damage OVER TIME

I am wondering this as well, does this make War Axes the best DPS weapon?

I called it a DOT because of how it looks. If you take one axe, with the perk, and hit an enemy one time with it, then stand back, their health will continue to leech away for a few seconds. So it looks like a DOT, but that's also why I asked how it worked. Even if it is a DOT, it could still stack, but I don't know as I can't tell. With one axe and one hit, you can clearly see it's not an instant damage effect, it does drain away their health for a few seconds, but there's no way to know if two axes caused it to stack.

Bleeding damage is a damage-over-time effect: each rank in Hack and Slash will do one to two extra points of damage every second for a few seconds. It's essentially a fast-acting poison.

As in Morrowind and Oblivion, undead like skeletons are unaffected by poisons and effects like these.

This is from a google search on it, but I want to be able to verify it somehow, specifically with dual wielding axes in mind. If they won't stack, or work on undead then the swords crit chance would be superior.

I'd like to know this as well. I'm dual wielding Legendary Glass War Axes (each with enchanted fire damage). I do alright, but if the bleeding is insignificant, I'd feel like I ruined a character that I've invested 50 hours in.

Depends on the target. I would say that for anything that's not in leather or robes that Maces would be the best for power attacking. Swords would be the best due to swing speed when combined with double enchants. Axes are kind of in the middle of both when you're looking at non enchanted and non perked weapons, but I don't know how much the bleed matters at all. Raw damage should matter much more than a dot.

Lol, drama queen much? If you haven't been having any issues and are enjoying the game, then dumping three perks into a skill that may or may not matter is not going to "ruin" your game. It's purely psychological. If you found out that the perk did nothing, then you would be upset, even if it doesn't actually change how well you've been doing. Conversely, if someone said that bleeding was the best weapon perk, you would be happy and continue doing what you've already been doing.

On my current Archer, I am also putting points into two-handed as a backup, but I am going to fill out everything except a weapon specialization. I don't want to get stuck using a specific type of weapon just because I am limited by my perk. If I find a great mace at level 30ish, I'll put points into Maces, if I find a great sword, then I'll put perks into sword and enchant it. Axes, I'm not going to bother with because I don't know what they do, but it's not like it's really going to matter much since I'll be going 30+ levels without a specialization anyway.

Right . I use axes because they fit my battlemage character not because it has the best perk. Power gamers are hilarious. You would really freak out if you found out the perk svcked?

No? My question was to find out how it worked since the descriptions are so vague. There's nothing wrong with wanting to know how a perk does work. I'm using the axes regardless.
