Ayleid Structures Arrive in Morrowind!

Post » Thu Jun 30, 2011 3:20 pm

Ok, so a new structure recently appeared in Morrowind:

I am now the first person in the history of MW to ever have a proper Ayleid structure! (big hahaha laugh here)

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22081676/ay_door1.jpg

Now that this is done, I must make about half a dozen ruined variations for at least 2 of these meshes(I have 8 meshes and 9 textures done). I would have waited, but someone is in a hurry to get these; although I still need to make ruined versions for this to be truely useful. Yes, this is for the Project: Cyrodiil project.(I think I will wait a little while before submitting this stuff today just so I can relish the moment, haha)
(I think I should work on the door texture a little.)

They look... highly illegal.

Did you actually import meshes/textures from Oblivion, or did you make them on your own? If it's the former, expect Bethesda's Lawyers giving you a stop-and-desist order...

Wow Marss good call on that one. Too bad Tarius made these from scratch and the textures as well. Way to attempt to be Debbie Downer here. Run along now and play with the other kiddies.

Is there any chance you could tweak the textures to be a bit darker or something? As they are, they seem to bright for the Morrowind atmosphere. However, the meshes look awesome~ Good job.

These will be in Cyrodiil, in the Morrowind engine. They are perfect for our purposes and will be put to use as soon as I can get the files and update out data. Tarius is doing a fantastic job and anyone suggesting this is illegal needs to learn some fact before they shoot their mouth off.

Is that a twisted compliment though? That means he did a such a high-quality job that someone thinks they are from the game that inspired them?

Yeah they look awesome but I didn't see anyone shooting their mouth off. All I saw was someone asking a question and a legitimate one at that because they look almost identical to oblivion, which is more of a compliment than anything.

He said they look illegal. That is indeed shooting their mouth off. Had he simple said hey are these imports then you would be correct. The truth of the matter is he did not. You see what you choose to see.

samira, cool down. it was a question and a hint, no offense. especially the door looks exactly liek the one i remember from oblivion, so the question came to my mind too. a simple: "no, there are made from scratch" would have been enough ;) and i'm no kiddie.

tarius: good work.

I know, Sister. It merely steamed me that the first thing someone thinks to say is man that looks like you will be hearing from bethesda for illegal uses of meshes when Tarius has put a lot of work into creating these models. You should never paint someone's work in a bad light without factual basis which is what the poster did.

I know you aren't a kiddie ;) and sure i could have come off nicer but hey I have to defend my hard working compatriot.

okay :) let's come back to the content: those ruins will not be seen on vvardenfell but... are you working on a special mod for them or will the be included in TR? (i actually don't know if project cyrodiil and TR are completely divided)

It is actually PROVINCE: Cyrodiil. Which has a thread floating around here somewhere. It is seperate but compatible with TR and many of our modders also work on TR (and SHotN). It will be included in P:C and Tarius may release it seperately, that is up to him. It will be available in any case once we release our first installment which is the Island of Stirk. We have the same policy as TR in that you may use our data files in a mod just credit the team and it is all good. We have lots of lovely unique models and will only be adding more as we press forward.

I can garuntee that if you compare the Oblivion meshes and mine side by side, you will see small differences. However, I did indeed make these from scratch which means I would be highly flattered if they thought they were the same. They wouldnt win a court case though as I have all the files to prove I made this stuff, plus like I said, there are differences; I did improve the mesh design some so it would be more usable in different places. However, you should give people around here a bit more credit to know that taking things straight from other games is not permitted.

Anyway, the whole point was to preserve the style.

TR and P:C are indeed separate projects. TR is for mainland Morrowind and P:C is for Cyrodiil. Different provinces.

AWESOME! Looking good - you working on interiors too?

I will be working on the interiors if I am not pre-empted by someone else, and assuming I can get things out fast enough, I have a list of things that need doing. Any interiors, unless they had better textures then mine, would probably end up using mine anyway to keep things looking the same. Yes, Oderius(spelling?) was the first to have a few interior meshes, but I am the first to have the exterior; this excludes counting something like the Neverhalls because those were not made from scratch etc if you see where I stand there.

SamirA added his response while I was typing this out: I have not planned on releasing this separately as of now. There are too few models at the moment to be worth doing that. Perhaps in the future I could release it as a separate pack, but for now there are no plans for it. SamirA, you will have these by the end of today.

Hey Tarius! Ignore all the naysayers - they aint happy unless they are moaning.

This models are great! Some of the more detailed ones I have seen in a while and I am glad that you making them :)
Keep up the good work!

hehe Neverhalls uses Daedric ruin meshes heavily modified (Shrine of Falzan uses re-textured Ayleid ruins made by Zack - exterior btw)

Also Princess stomper - for private use (she never shared the meshes - come to think about it it might not have been her....) back when oblivion was released converted the aylied ruins to morrowind and placed them in game to take pictures. Star wars guy also made some and showed them off in game and on the now dead but first cyrodil mod there was a mesh makeer that also made one or two exterior parts.

HOWEVER - you are the first to actually make from scratch a COMPLETE exterior set (I.e not just a couple of pillars or walls :P)

You call that being guarded? Hah!

:P

Seriously though, this is some damn fine work. Looking forward to more of it.

Why would Bethesda sue someone for using their meshes/textures? Half the mods on PES do exactly that.

HOLY CRAP! These are badass Tarius! One question though. WIll these be complete models ala mainstreamed oblivion or more modular ala much better game morrowind? As P:C is bigger than TES4, increased modular(esness) would be really beneficial as there will likely be more ruins. Same question goes for interiors for city houses as they were one big model in oblivion.

I lied one more question for Samira or whoever. Will there be more aylied ruins in P:C or just better ones? TES4 did have 200 (or whatever) dungeons but they were lame. I suppose you could add a few Dwemer along the borders to spice things up a bit as well.

So are Ayleid ruins on vvardenfell compatible with the lore?
Did wild elves ever live there, or in Morrowind province?

It's probably cool enough that I will use it either way, but I am a bit curious on this topic.

Never mind, it sounds like these are meant for Cyrodil.

They have stated that they dont want stuff taken directly from another game and put into this. It has to do with copyright and all. Using and modifying stuff that is already in the game is ok. I personally dont think they care that much except for the fact that taking stuff and putting it directly into MW makes it rediculously easy to just bypass their newer more expensive game. If they get to the point where they release it for free download, they may indeed lift this restriction.

Tarius => awesome hard works put in it!!!
For good texture if you want you have these ones => SpewBoy's Ayleid Ruins or Herculines Ayleid Ruins Textures (different colours)

I wasnt sure about the legality of using that stuff so I made my own. Plus I think mine looks great now anyway. Plus its alot easier for me to just say people can use stuff and not need to ask permission. I am not going to pull a connary unless I hit my head or something wrong like that. haha

HOWEVER - you are the first to actually make from scratch a COMPLETE exterior set (I.e not just a couple of pillars or walls )

Yes, complete set. I will have more then this in the future too. Excluding the ruin variants I need to do, I think another 10-20 exterior meshes is probably whats coming. That is mostly individual meshes and dont count variants. the number of exterior meshes for Oblivion is 111(excluding Camerons paradise) and much of it is variants on 30-40 different meshes.

As P:C is bigger than TES4, increased modular(esness) would be really beneficial as there will likely be more ruins. These are going to basically be like the Oblivion ones, but I am making improvements to the design in some places to make them more usable. As for the interiors for the cities, I dont know at the moment, but we may use alot of retextured MW stuff.
