Ayleid Wells "blue arrow"

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 1:13 pm

Last night, I came something else for the first time. Yes, after almost 4 yrs of playing, there is ALWAYS something else. A blue arrow, on the edge of the step leading to the well. I searched the forums, with no Luck. ( I should probably invest a few points in that.)

I searched the net and found http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion_talk:Glitches/Archive_6%23Blue_Arrow_in_the_ground&rct=j&q=oblivion+Ayleid+Wells+blue+arrow&usg=AFQjCNEF0uu8uxOy87cDLhRNNExgTg7mUg&sa=X&ei=c7GmTse2N8jksQLNqPDWDw&sqi=2&ved=0CCsQygQwAQ. (scroll down a little) It seems that the subject has been discussed, but no answer to the mystery.

XBox version, right? I'm betting it's some kind of graphic anomaly with that system, probably somehow connected with the animated "flame." Does it go away after you "use" the well?

Yes, Xbox. I just started up the game today. I visited three other wells. The first one was at night, the rest were viewed during the day. They ALL have the arrow and ALL of the arrows point to a NE direction. They are all located in the same spot, in relation to the well flame.

They still remain, AFTER the well has been activated, and the flame exhausted.

If they were pointing northwest, you might think they were pointing towards Microsoft Headquarters...

I′d say graphic anomaly as well, not connected to the flame however but it′s there since they′re basically the same well duplicated (Oh, Hannibal what have you done)

Not sure what it means, but looking at the model's wireframe, there is a vertice exactly of the same size, shape, location and orientation.

That would that suggest it was intentional, and not just a glitch. Right?

They are all pointing in the same GENERAL direction, and not to a common point. So that would rule out a "treasure" theory. The only thing that lies in a NE direction is Skyrim. Maybe it's just an easter egg, noting the next game location. I don't have a clue. I'm just pulling straws.

Then I'm completely lost in translation. I understand what a vertex is. A cube has 8. So, a 2D triangle, which is what the object appears to be, has 3 vertices.

All this graphic, shader, rendering mess gets over my head. I'm way too old to go back to school, so I have to pick this stuff up on the fly, while there is still time.

There's probably a weirdness with the texture associated with that particular part of the model, on the XBox only.

It is an unintentional glitch with the 360 properly rendering vertex to texture and thus creates an artifact (maybe because of overheating?). Is your box properly ventilated? Try a cool down and return to one of the wells and see if this issue persists.

http://oi44.tinypic.com/f2m0er.jpg of the model in the same view as the first that was posted. I highlighted in blue a few of the vertices as an example.

Short story short; no magic arrow pointing to an easter egg.

Miles....I'm picking up, what you're laying down. ( now ) When I checked the 3 locations, stated earlier. I had just started up the system. It was stone cold.

Thanks for the explanation. You're a fine scholar and gentleman. :foodndrink:
