Azura's Quest.

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 8:32 pm

It may have Spoilers so i'll put it into a spoiler box.

Spoiler
So, after i started the quest to find Azura's Star, when i spoke with the Elf he said that she isn't that good as everyone thinks, such as she drove a guy mad just for vengeance..

Now i got the Star and i don't know what to do. Should i bring it to the Elf or should i bring it to Azura ? Who is wrong and who is right.. because from what i know, Azura is a good Daedric Prince. BUT, this Elf said that she drove a guy mad, etc etc, just for revenge, etc etc... so i'm a little confused.

Depends if you care about using it. If you go to the elf, it becomes a black soul gem, and despite what he says, can capture human and creature souls, where as if you take it to Azura it only can take creature souls.

Spoiler

If you give it to the women, you get the azura's star gem. Which is for monsters and animals. AND you also get her as a companion
if you give it to the elf, you get the black star gem. WHich can be used on humans

It drove a crazy necromancer mad, who was defiling a sacred artifact.

Take it to Azura.

It was the power of the star that drove the guy mad but Nelacar is holding Azura personally responsible. I suppose Azura is one of the Daedra lords, they like playing with puny mortals for fun

Unless you have weapon that need a lot of recharging, it might be best to return the star to Azura. IMO, Aranea is the best follower you can get in the game, she doesn't complain or get in the way and is extremely powerful in combat. If you want to improve her armor, give her a helm first, then she'll equip whatever armor you give her, Elven might be the best for her as a mage/summoner. I think she might also be immortal.

Once again, this is another gray choice.

Choose wisely.

Well the black star is undoubtedly more useful since its so easy to find a NPC for a grand soul.

But I couldn't defy Azura, not after all I did in Morrowind. One of the only Daedra I respect.

Ehhhh...thinking about it. Not sure what to pick, though. But I'll always be loyal to Azura.

I don't think it is a gray area, capturing black souls is an offense to Aedra, more so Arkay and so the Black Star is an offense to them. It is likely Necromancy/Mannimarco(god of worms, not king of worms) that sent the necromancer insane rather then Azura, why would Azura want to corrupt her own artifact? that makes no sense! More so when she goes through the effort of getting it purified. As far as I am aware the only being capable of making black soul gems is the god of worms himself and it is with his dark blessing that soul gems achieve their black status.

If you want to go for which side is the "justice" side, i think it would be Azura. She didnt go "hehee lets torment this mortal for fun", that necromancer guy was tampering with HER artifact trying to make himself immortal. Its almost like.. someone cutting off your flesh to satiate his hunger.

But unfortunately the notion of a refillable black soul gem was too tempting for me :) On both of my playthroughs i went for the black star.

Azura is as evil as Mannimarco, if not more so. She just puts on a good front.

I never got what was the deal with the mage guy: "Oh, don't trust Asura, she's Evil! Now here, let me change that artifact so it only runs on human souls.

I always give it to Azura. She may not be squeaky clean, but trapping the souls of sentient and possibly innocent people in black soul gems does not seem very morally upright to me.
