Azura star?

Is azuras star the soul gem thingy that can be recharged? Should you give it to the heir at once? Is it better to keep it?

I envy you that you were even able to get to the shrine. I *still* can't. After hours of trying to get through those mother [censored] mountains.

The way I understand it though, the answers to your questions are: yes, no, yes. Unless, of course, you don't plan on trapping souls with it for enchanting purposes. Then the answers are: yes, yes, no.

no no no no no I hope you haven't given it away yet...
most people agree that Azura's Star is one of the most useful artifacts because it is a soul gem that never disappears, ever
You don't have to give it to Martin, you can give any artifact to him
I would recommend giving him a weapon artifact or armor artifact that you dont use

There are other artifacts you can get to give up to Martin. Doesn't need to be Azura's Star. I give up the Wabbajack.

Take a look at http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Blood_of_the_Daedra page to see all the items you can get. Choose something you won't use, get it, and give that to Martin.

If you aren't going to be enchanting anything though, and you have no interest in soul trapping with Azura's Star, yeah, give it up.

I'm so sad. I just want, just once, to get that [censored] star. :sadvaultboy:

You need to give away one Daedric Artifact, It does not need to be Azura's Star, but if you want to progress further in the main quest as soon as possible you can use it to complete the quest. You could head south from Bravil to Leyawiin and head South/Southwest from Fort Nomore for a second Daedric Prince to worship.

Are you just having trouble getting to the shrine? If thats the case then access it through this http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Unmarked_Roads#Bruma_to_the_Temple_of_the_Ancestor_Moths

Ah, so that is what all those shrines are for?
Thanks for the answers.

Edit: Are there other shrines/gods that you do "good" quests for?

Funny. I use the wiki a lot, but I never saw that. I'll have to try it again after work. I must have spent like three real life hours (not fun, and those were definitely "wasted" hours) trying unsuccessfully to cross the stupid mountains there. At one point my character at the time died from a fall. I could see an Oblivion Gate nearby, but I just could not f'ng reach it. It made me so angry that I gave up and overwrote the saves and tried to ignore the existence of the shrine and the star.

Actually, just thinking about it is... kind of... making me furious. Like, Hulk-rage furious.

Azura's is a Daedric Shrine quest. Although the quest rewards are not leveled, there are character level requirements to start them. Here is load of info on them all: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Daedric_Quests

As early as level 2 you can do Sheogorath's quest. If I was low level and looking to progress the Main Quest, the reward from that quest is what I would use. Your mileage may very depending on the kind of gear you want for your character. Many players (like me) would never, ever surrender Azura's Star.

As far as 'good' quests, if you mean fun and with good rewards, you can judge for yourself based on the link. If by good you mean morally righteous, then only a couple are (including Azura). Several more are ambiguous and yet several more are unabashedly evil. Players may disagree on specifics here, but I think most would generally agree with that assessment.

Wabbajack and Sanguine's Rose are good candidates for the artifact.

I also recommend not giving up Azura's Star. It is very useful. There are better things to give up. I like to give Martin the Skeleton Key, because I think it's one of the more useless artifacts (since if your reasonable at lockpicking and restoration, you can fortify skill to the point where lockpicking is not an issue). For most characters I think Volendrung is also a good candidate to give away, unless you like very heavy Blunts.

More Daedric quests:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Daedric_Quests

As far as Good (ie non-evil quests) from shrines, there are only Daedric Shrines. The good quests would be from the Nine, but they don't have any shrines in the game. As mentioned above it seems some of the Daedric quests can be performed by good characters like Azura, Nocturnal, Meridia, Peryite. Some are very evil, like Molag Bal, Mephala, Namira. Some are are more ambiguous in morality.
