If the leaper king is the Dovahkiin that'd be hilarious. I kind of want to see it happen.

I'm a little dismayed that it seems to be the classic "evil dragons" and "chosen one" thing.

I hope the developers put a fresh spin on it and make it something uniquely TESish.

Isn't the part that a beloved Aedra is going to consume the world enough TESish for you?
It's an interesting contradiction in my opinion.

Well, even if it's cliche dragons and chosen one who cares! So long as they work the lore and set up right people shouldn't worry so much. Lot's of things are cliche and work just fine...what you guys don't think that Dragon Age isn't a cliche story line, or Mass Effect, or Baulders Gate? Since when have games not been cliche story lines might I ask you?

Dude, trust me on this. I got it straight from the imperial library. Alduin and Akatosh are the same thing. They are viewed differently in different cultures. And as it seems to be turning out: the Nord's idea of Alduin was right.

I'm not saying that they're different people am I? Sorry if it sounds like that. But as I said, Akatosh became the head of the 'nine divines' when he forged the pact with Alessia.

He's the hero to somebody even if it's fully gray. Think of World War I. Germany could have had a hero and so could France, but they'd see each other's hero as a villain.

Protagonist is the word you're searching for, I believe...

I love the idea despite me being confused. :P

Great idea to let the fan-base decrypt the cover. Brilliant.

Nope i'm pretty sure your wrong.

"The Dragons are a rare (and often believed to be extinct) Akaviri race of large reptilian beasts capable of flight and the ability to create fire[1]. Little is known about them beyond their remarkable intelligence and ability to communicate[2][3] with Nedic visitors to Akavir years ago. There are at least two subspecies, or varieties of dragon; red and black[4]. Their population in Akavir was killed by the Tsaesci, whereas the dragons in Vvardenfell were overrun by the invading cliff racers. It was rumored that they moved closer to Cyrodiil, and it may be for this reason that dragons are sacred to the Empire"

So, maybe these dragons - that once moved closer to Cyrodil, maybe Skyrim? - are the ones that produced the language and the myth, since they too would be threatened by Alduin/Akatosh's arrival and re-creation of the universe?

If everyone is no better or worse than anyone else then there's no narrative tension and therefore no reason to write or experience the story in the first place. Even if things are grey, then the antagonist may need to be black (and since Alduin is a destroyer-god that doesn't seem to hard from a human perspective).

It doesn't mean everyone will be at the same moral level on the evil scale. It means that people will contain different degrees of a mix of mentalities and effects. Different shades of grey.

Oi! That has nothing to do with my post! Yes, Akatosh formed the pact with Alessia and gave her some of his blood from his heard and put it in the amulet of kings. With the Amulet destroyed... Akatosh has no more pact!!!

I don't know why people are thinking it's cliche dragons. For what we know so far it's not even close. It is a god that just chooses to look like a dragon. I'm sure there will be real dragons that won't be evil also, but Akatosh is not actually a dragon. Doesn't seem cliche to me?

I can't believe I actually managed to translate it. :D

So there will be a civil war and then Alduin comes and swallows the world.
Great!

WELL HOLD ON ONE DARN SECOND, THAR.

Akatosh is the god of time. He basically is time. How the heck are we supposed to stop that? If we destroy Akatosh we destroy time and effectively destroy the world, anyway. If we don't destroy Akatosh he devours the world. What.

Yes that would be a possibility. I think it would be pretty cool if in the final battle dragons help the dragonborn against Akatosh. That is just me thou. And NO dragon riding....

Yeah, and if he was so evil, why he'd make the pact with Alessia to help the Nedes? Was it self-preservation? If so, why did Akky wait until the third era to make his move - the Septim lines have fizzled out before, and Dagon has invaded before.

EDIT: My gut instinct to let Umaril kill the Nine was correct. :shifty:

I know, but Alduin being Akatosh should have two different personalities, not only an evil one. And a bunch of different reasons on why to destroy the world, not just because he is hungry :P

Which is why it's starting to sound cliche. I hope Bethesda really develops this plot well, I want it to be the best, but sometimes it's hard to believe.

AGREED!!! I am so hyperactive right now, so far this game is shaping up to be incredible, and we still know scarcely anything about it! God, I can't wait for the contents of that magazine.

That's what I hope, but Oblivion the hero was really the good guy and everyone praised him but the villains.

Hopefully you'll be also hated for you actions to stop the god of time. The Empire and Aldmer would at least want a word with you.

I'm loving the way they're going with this story right now, now all I hope for is that we are the protagonist in this game not the side kick. Also if we "kill" Akatosh won't we cause one of those dragon breaks, opening up the possibility for multiple endings? BTW there are over 150 people in this one thread right now!

Like I previously said, I'm pretty sure most/all of the old kalpa has been destroyed by Dagon now. Alduin cursed Dagon to his current form until he destroyed every piece of the old kalpa he had hidden from him. His plan had been to hide so much stuff in the new world that Alduin's belly would explode and he could no longer eat the world. If Dagon completed his goal in Oblivion, Akatosh has no need to fear his belly bursting. Hence why he waited until now.
