GI Back Cover Poem. III

That might create a Dragon Break and a Warp in the West 2.0, which I don't want. I want definitive canon.

True. But, I wouldn't mind if there were multiple endings but one definitive. Or this could be the final game after all? Who knows? Maybe there won't be a TESVI. The apocalypse is the end, right?

Wow i never thought of it like that before. Hmmmm Tosh Raka is the avatar of Akatosh...

Tosh Raka's name is actually composed of "to-shi", which literally translates to "stripped cat", which means "tiger" and "ra-ka", which literally means "true claw", where "ka", meaning "strong claw" often referred to powerful beings, especially the dragons. "ra-ka" together means "divine-dragon", which is a synonym for the dragon-gods. I don't think Tosh is Akatosh. He was a mortal before the War of Betrayal.

Dragons with hats?

Well, Carl is about as effective at destroying things as Mehrunes Dagon on an off day. And it's basically the same motivation that I absolutely love, that terrible, beautiful simplicity only the best of antagonists can have: They destroy because they destroy.

Think the best-written Jokers, or the Lovecraftian horrors, or Carl. It's simply a thing they do.

I'm confused, is this supposed to be the lyrics in the trailer from the Spike VGA that we were trying to work out?

This Bethblog post say to sing along to it in english - http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/01/06/skyrim-sing-along/comment-page-1/#comment-192712

But it doesn't sound like the words from the Game Informer cover to me.

True. What they should do is have a singular ending, and allow you to come to that ending in different ways.

For instance: ( assuming Alduin fails) you can experience how Nirn triumps over Alduin (fighting against him), or you could experience how Alduin fails (fighting with him), and see both perspectives while having no Warp in the West type incident.

We don't know anything about this game except a vague poem and with whats been said, I don't find it as intriguing as the tribunal and their betrayal...yet.

I see your point. :spotted owl:

Interesting to note that the Yokundan (Redguard) creation myth is somewhat similar to Skyrim's

Satakal - Yokudan god of everything. A fusion of the concepts of Anu and Padomay. Basically, Satakal is much like the Nordic Alduin, who destroys one world to begin the next. In Yokudan mythology, Satakal had done, and still does this many times over, a cycle which prompted the birth of spirits that could survive the transition. These spirits ultimately become the Yokudan pantheon. Popular god of the Alik'r nomads.

And a way to "survive" the end of the world.

Ruptga - Chief deity of the Yokudan pantheon. Ruptga, more commonly 'Tall Papa', was the first god to figure out how to survive the Hunger of Satakal. Following his lead, the other gods learned the 'Walkabout', or a process by which they can persist beyond one lifetime. Tall Papa set the stars in the sky to show lesser spirits how to do this, too. When there were too many spirits to keep track of, though, Ruptga created a helper out the dead skin of past worlds. This helper is Sep, who later creates the world of mortals.

Culturally speaking not really on the mark but it's something to draw ideas from.

I don't think so, I believe the avatar of Akatosh is the Black Dragon also known as the Black Turtle and the Dragon-God of The North (Duh, Alduin).

@ Silvade- that is true, since we saw Akatosh's old avatar in Oblivion and Tosh was already around during that time.

I'm not saying it wont be, but its like saying Oblivion is superior to Daggerfall storywise, just from watching the opening cinematic. LOL

So are you agreeing or disagreeing? I was saying in all the research i have done, which is a fair amount, i never thought of Tosh Raka to be the avatar of Akatosh. There are alot of possibilities here.
If the lore is right, and the game is done right this could be a very good game.

I edited my first post to clarify.

This is what I've always wanted in a TES game.
The games are just as much a personal quest as it is a quest to save the world.

Well Akatosh himself seems to think the world would run forever. Or at least thats what I get from his line in http://www.imperial-library.info/content/seven-fights-aldudagga

From the work:
You stupid little #*$&%^, do you even know what would HAPPEN if that happened, my dying and being unable to eat and the kalpa left to run forever?

My money says that he doesn't want men to reach the goal that Lorkhan wants them to reach. As it says in this mass of text http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:0hKcgk2nSEYJ:www.imperial-library.info/content/vehks-teaching+he+failed+so+that+they+scrolls+lorkhan&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us (Near the bottom).

From the work:
And this is the most-reached destination of all that embark upon this road. Why would Lorkhan and his (unwitting?) agents sabotage their experiments with the Tower? Why would he crumble that which he esteems?

Perhaps he failed so you might know how not to.

That say to me that Lorkhan is lighting the way. Akatosh would certainly have none of that.

I think that Dagon had to get rid of all his extra world bits (explained in the link first link above) before Akatosh could get his dinner. That, or the world only runs for so long. I have reading to do...

I'd say that those in the know would love you. Besides the Altmer that is. They'll probably kill you.

Yes.

I agree. They said that a sense of culture was going to be a big part of the game.

Thanks for the link to the book, its a funny one - "Oh crap," said the Leaper Demon King, "You have found us out, World-Eater! Yes, just after the two bells of the All-Maker's Goat sound the Greedy Man and I and our servants hoard bits and bobs of the world so you can't eat it all.

Hmm, I wonder if we become the Leaper King or the Greedy Man. Or maybe we will find some artifacts of 'the old worls'.

Maybe. Personally, I really want to see just what it is Alduin is so afraid of. What exactly would happen if he could never destroy the world again? Perhaps mankind would grow so powerful they could supplant the gods, or perhaps it's something less selfish. Who knows? I can only hope we get to see it.

Yay, finally finished it!

The fact the page kept loading screwed up for me added an interesting extra level of difficulty to it.

Oh, and as I said I would so many threads ago, I got a good and long chuckle out of the trailer's chanting being in faux-nordish after all the work people put into trying to decipher it :D

All this new info TOTALLY BLOWS MY MIND!

I first started playing ES games with Arena...bought it in 1995. I had a fairly fun time with it. Then I bought Morrowind in 2004....OMG! Played it non-stop until Oblivion came out...Then have played Oblivion from day one in March 2006 until present (minus a few months in 2008 when I was protesting with Anonymous and 3 months this past fall when I reverted back to Morrowind). Now Skyrim coming out...3 days after my 40th BD...Talk about the greatest present IN HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!

Working on translating it right now. I'll check later to see if I was correct. This is a lot of fun!

I can see how, if out general hypothesizing is right, the GI editor would have been justified in saying his mind was blown.

I think he was blown away by the content inside the issue, not just the cover.

Yes! Took me an hour, but I'm so happy that I've translated it all by my self, without making a single mistake. :D

Well I mean with the whole kalpa, Alduin, vaguely-hindu-influenced-trio-of-creator-preserver-and-destroyer stuff.

This looks great. Was Bethesda this creative with early information on Morrowind and Oblivion?
