GI Back Cover Poem : V - Skyrim

Read this as you watch the trailer and listen to the song:

Since I am not sure how "kiin" is handled I have only translated what I could. Someone else tell me that letters available here (caps) don't seem to match up with the sounds in the trailer. Am I losing my mind? lol

I forgot to mention my (hopefully) partial translation before is only the first paragraph. I think that's the song.

"the first hints of Skyrim's story, along with a unique tie to the singing in the recent teaser trailer". Could tie to the song, and a bit more. I mean, how odd is it we still don't have confirmed lyrics yet ?

I have to admit that the first paragraph does fit the rhythm of the song pretty well, maybe even perfectly. But I still don't know why the dragons would like the Dragonborn fellow enough to sing about him. Maybe it's part of the plot? Or maybe it's just a widespread language that a lot of Skyrim's people use.

The best thing to look for is the translation of the last symbol in the first two words. It's everywhere. ~~Maybe try it as 'ne' or 'ine'. That's what I'm doing (though it seems pointless).~~

If you read my post above, I argue why it can't be a cipher. There's a quandary in it that doesn't seem to work for any words in the English language-- it has to do with the pattern not with the symbols themselves.. Plus, developers have explicitly stated that it's not word-for-word, and there are 27 letters in it.

People have been asking him constantly about if the back page will have some secret transcript? Or asking what the games about.

I'm assuming because the code apparently contains the lyrics to the chanting, and because people have been asking him for the lyrics, that this is what the surprise was. But I just want to know for sure.

Gah. I think it's right. Some of them looked almost exactly the same. Ran out of colours, not that it matters. Check to the right to see which letters I have replaced the dragon things with.

Huh. :huh: I'm not a native english speaker, but symbol to phonetics would make more sense than symbol to syllable, if the code does transcribe in english, no ?

It would explain the similarity of many of the symbols, and the apparent use of diacritical marks.

There are 44 common English phonetics, and a couple of rare. There were 28 symbols on the cover. Writing 2 paragraphs with only half of the phonetics can be pretty hard I think.

Seems to me that Dovakhiin has seven different sounds when spoken out.

Most used symbols would refer tho the "?", which is used quite often in english.

Though I'm not so sure on your phonetic transcription. The final sound, for example would amount to something usually shown in English as 'ng' and I'm afraid your other sound a little off too; so you're writing something like doewhacking. From what I heard in the trailer, I think we're rather going for something like /do?va'ki:n/.

Listen to the words of the trailer song and follow along. Again this is not english, just the SOUNDS of the words. Pay closest attention to the last word on the second line and the last 2-3 words, they are SOO close. "Dovahkiin" repeats on as the first word on the last line just like the song.

Not nearly as hard as cramming all 44 into 2 paragraphs, I'd bet.
