I think I can confirm the second letter to be an O.

In this text, a two-letter-palindrome appears. The only english palindrome that is common and only has two letters I can think of would be on / no. Which includes an O, which looks the same as the second letter. If true, we'd also know what an N is.

Yeah posted that in the mag cover thread.

Which means the first letter is either D, G, S, or T(There's another 2 letter word using *O with the first letter of the poem)

3rd line from the bottom also uses the ., / symbol, but with another letter preceding it. 3rd line word could be "to". Its a good theoretical start.

Just as an FYI I've counted at least 28 different symbols, while english has only 26 letters. I could have counted wrong, but I don't think so.

Likely no Z or J

There are definitely more symbols than there are letters in our language.

I think that certain symbols on a character might indicate that there are 2 of that letter.

Yes, but some of them could be punctuation or something like that.

DOVAKIN DOVAKIN
N__ OK __N _O_ VA_IN
_A DON VOK__ _A_O_D_K D__ VOK
ADN __N NODOK ___ ___N
DOVAKIN _A __N _O__N __ D____

A_K __N K__ _O__ __ODA
DO V_D VID_ IO __N D_A
_O_ _OD A__A __D NOD __A __NDVN
O_D__N __N DO __N
D__AIK VO VOK_N ___DOV_
DO__ _N _A_OK _A DIVON __N _VN

That's what I've got, by assuming the first word is DOVAKIN.

Yeah, came up with that too. Ah well, Bethblog is gonna help they say.

Going with this, if the first line really IS Dovakhiin Dovakhiin , one of the symbols in the double i rune must indicate double letter.

I absolutely hate it when people think that the Skyrim logo is all "ZOMG ITS IN OBLIVION AND MORROWIND!!!11!!!11!!11111!"
Seriously, where have you guys been?

Now on topic after my venting

How do we know how "Dovahkiin" is spelled? I see it everywhere but I don't recall anyone confirming how it is spelled

If the first two words are 'Dovhakiin' (however you spell it, I don't know if anyone has the official spelling) then it has some strange implications - 'v(h)' is more used than 'a', 'n' is the most used letter, and 'o' is use three times more than 'd'

Its not a known langage / characters in the TES series.

Thats not stopping the people decrypting ancient languages, so I do not see why it should stop us.

Even if there are more letters than english letters, you can still make assumptions on the tiny two letter words and get a good overview which may help isolate them.

Should we assume the code is in English? What if the deciphered code needs to be translated?

Yes, otherwise it would just be a cruel joke.

Dohvakiin is not english, so we might assume the whole text is a different language.

It has nothing to do with lore. I was talking about how the logo is really the logo you see everywhere in TES and outside of TES, and people are acting like this is the 1st time they saw the logo in Morrowind/Oblivion

Not everyone is a lore nerd.

It's on the box art for Morrowind and located on the map that comes with Oblivion where the imperial seal is next to the cartographers signature. You don't have to be a lore nerd to realize it's been in the games and part of the Empire.

But anyway on topicish: I've been up forever, so it's bed time for me people. I DEMAND! You have this solved by the time I return.
pretty please
