Back to fallout 3 for the first time in awhile

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 7:05 am

was on a big new vegas kick for awhile, but I started to think more and more about coming back to FO3. And wow, is this game way better the NV, and I love NV. But the wasteland, its a wasteland...just leaving the vault...just exploring springvale...wow I miss the capital wasteland. I'll be staying for awhile.

It's not better than fallout new Vegas. Your just letting the deceiving looks cloud your vision.

not sure if serious but...

while which game is better is disputed what's not in dispute is that they play differently & maybe FO3 fits the OP's playstyle better than NV

Fallout 3′s combat svcks big [censored] gayass d***. But its fun, IF they only would have implented iron sight then it would be AWESOME AS [censored]. But running around rapid firing gets old. an zooming in is soooooooooo inaccurate. Hate it. Love the game though.

I agree with you mate. I love New Vegas`, the story is fantastic and the traits/factions/etc make for an amazing game. But when I played it I felt it was missing something. Whatever that something is, Fallout 3 has it. I think I'll be roaming the Capital Wasteland again for a while.

New Vegas just gets a little lonely at times lol in terms of stretches where its just you out in the wastes, and no one to take out. If you try to limit fast travel, you spend a lot of time running in the mojave by yourself for awhile until you encounter something. Not saying you need to kill everything, just that it feels like the game is quite empty at times. I do like how they made NV more difficult then FO3, and I wish we could blend the NV settings(hard core and lack of a god mode) into FO3 and its huge map. Theres just so much more to explore, more people and enemies to come across.

I've already spent 10 hours on this new character, only level 10, and I have only completed 3 quests. About to side with the Slavers in The Pitt as I would get my ass kicked if I went up against them this low of a level. But I just got my Perforater (big grin) I miss that gun so much. Can't wait to bring it back to the Capital Wasteland with the entire game left at my fingertips.

I'm also currently on a NV kick, will probably do several playthroughs there before coming back to the Capital Wasteland. There is something about the feel of FO3 that really can grab a person.

As to which one is better, why not like both on their own merits?

I respect your opinion, but I think the reason most of the people who like F03 better than NV is because its kinda more true to the fallout universe. Very gritty and tough. New Vegas really lightens the mood. Its still all good though :)

I feel that I have to step in here. New Vegas is actually much more like the originals and is much more true to the Fallout Universe. Fallout 3 is still a very good game, but it is the black sheep of the series.

I thought BOS was the black sheep?

NV and FO3 are both equally kick ass games. I can only hope a Fallout 4 comes out in the near future.

What I don't like about New Vegas is the idea of basic goodness and nobility inherent in their humanity. Here you have this civilization of people helping each other. Why? In Fallout 1 I never got the impression that Fallout people were so worthy of having my heart bleed for them. They were mostly trash, scumbags, drunks, druggies, goons, bums, and there was very little good to be seen in someone. And when there was that one odd fellow who seemed lawful ( Richard Dean Anderson ) then there was always the open door question of what they get out of their role to quench their selfish egos. Credit.

Who am I talking about that I can't stand? The NCR, the Children of the Apocolypse and that Julie Farkas, that sickening Dr. Usanagi and that contemptuous Dr. Keeley. And almost everyone in towns seemed too sane and healthy-minded, whereas Fallout 1 had something looney to be found in everybody. The people of Fallout don't deserve to have healing, and that is what I don't like about New Vegas. Fallout 3, however, presented some good examples of the kind of people that blow up their own planet. Republic of Dave, Greyditch, Andale. That is what the survivors of Fallout deserve. Not hope.

snip
The NCR are out to help everyone? How much of New Vegas did you play if you believe that? The only group that I would say are like how you mentioned are the Follower's of the Apocalypse and they are a very small minority. Do Boone's recruitment quest and tell me again that everyone in New Vegas are goody goody people.

NCR is no where to be seen at Quarry Junction/Sloan either. I do suppose they offer a bit more help compared to the BOS though.

I do think Nenina is right in terms of how people would be in a Fallout world though. Words were a bit harsh in describing the people, but I would say he/she has a point.

Its funny how it took NV for me to realize how wrong BOS is for whats left of civilization.
