Back from long absence - quick summary of major changes?

Post » Sun Apr 13, 2014 3:01 am

Played Skyrim for...I dunno, close to a year, and posted on the forums a good bit. I had just finished my first character, a Nord warrior, on a vanilla playthrough and was looking into starting my second character. Had him mostly figured, and was looking around collecting, sifting through and testing various mods to see what I wanted to use the second time around. I had just nearly finished the process of evaluating and weeding out mods...when I hit another game.

I ran into an ad for World of Tanks in a webcomic. Never had played any sort of multiplayer games on the PC before, but started an account. Had no idea if I was gonna bother sticking around with it, but it was free to play, so I gave it a chance.

Got hooked for two years, and I've got about eleven thousand matches under my belt, with about a 54% winrate. Better than most, still trying to get better.

Anyway, not here to advertise for WoT; I'm here because I'm starting to get the Skyrim itch again, and thought I'd check in with the forum. My biggest question is - apart from the DLC, have there been any major alterations to the game? I already started up the game through the normal game launcher and did a quick test character - nothing really different jumped out at me. Some mods still worked, some didn't.

I know I'll have to update my mods and some likely are dead and not updateable, but have there been any really big changes to the game apart from the DLC, which i don't have yet? I'm just trying to get back into the swing of things here, with the next step being to go see what's what as far as the mod scene goes, but first I need to know if any big changes have happened with the vanilla game.

Any responses would be very welcome.

We got these official DLCs: Dragonborn, Heartfires and Dawnguard + High Res. There have been some patches - removed some bugs. Except from that, no changes since Bethesda will probably no working on Skyrim anymore. We got the online game. The major changes to the game are acutally to find on nexus site (player mods) and
ENBseries graphic modifications ( http://enbdev.com/mod_tesskyrim_v0252.htm ) the latest version pr date. We have also these unofficial patches to Skyrim itself and to the official DLCs - to be find on nexus as well, solved alot of bugs. Questions about what about the next TES is still unanswered and kept as a secret. They are working on next Fallout.

Cheers,
KK

Gophervids on YouTube has some mods on ENBS and performance, he also covers lore friendly mods and immersive mods. There has been a lot of cool things that have come from modders, Frostfall a weather and environment mod which makes camping and keeping warm a necessity, Skyrim is a cold Province and this hammers that point home, then we have the immersive armors and weapons mods which add lore friendly gear and adds to that level of RP, with over a hundred sets of armor and then some. But Gopher covers these better than I can.

There's now http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38649/? and http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50305/? (that will be included in the next version of SKSE). Goodbye mandatory crashes and freezes when using a lot of mods :celebration:
