Character background for Skyrim. I'm trying to stay Lore friendly and want to be sure I'm not completely missing something. Sorry for the length, I cut it down to just include the parts that descuss lore.

THANKS!

The Shield Maidens of Shor are an ancient sisterhood whose sole duty is to aid Shor in finding those worthy of entering his Great Hall in Sovngarde. Throughout Skyrim’s history they have been given access to the battlefields to perform the Rite of Passage on those Nords whom have fallen bravely in battle or aiding those who can be revived so that they may live to fight another day. The Shield Maidens were at one time held with high respect and no army ever marched without their presence. It was not uncommon for the kings of old to have a pair of Shield Maidens near him at all times. But times have changed.

With the coming of the Imperials, bringing with them their new gods and traditions, the call for of the Shield Maiden’s has declined. No longer are they called upon before a battle and their presence afterward is only tolerated out of respect of the old traditions. Due to this the Shield Maidens themselves have declined into a much smaller group and are seldom seen at all unless a major battle takes place or if they are requested by those that still honor the old traditions.

Valshea is a Shield Maiden of Shor. She was found by her matron when she was but seven years old, a new orphan from a small village whose name she no longer remembers and has been raised by her side ever since. The Shield Maiden’s take no men into their group. In fact the maidens are forbidden to have any relations with a man as it may influence their responsibility to carry out the rite. Any maidens that seek physical relationships find it in each others arms and there they are never left wanting. This practice has always been accepted as a way to keep the maidens pure from the manipulations of men and to allow them to focus on their more vital task of performing the Rite of Passage and healing.

It was just after the rebellion started that the position of the maidens changed dramatically. It seemed that no longer could they just be neutral in the politics of Skyrim. All factions were taking sides and lines were being drawn. While the maidens had always believed that it was their task to aid all Nords, the Imperials were made this no longer possible. After a large battle between the Imperials and the rebels the maidens had appeared and started to offer aid and perform the rite on fallen Nords, both those that aided the Imperials and the rebels they fought. When the Imperials seen the maidens on the field reviving their enemies they immediately ordered an attack against them. The maidens, not being prepared for a battle themselves, were slaughtered. Valshea and her matron barely escaped, but not before her matron was seriously injured.

Valshea questioned her matron as to why they would leave the fight, why they did not die with honor along with their sisters. Her matron insisted that Valshea had a destiny and that it must be fulfilled. This battle could not be allowed to end it. They headed south for Burma within the Imperial province as there was a secret group of maidens there that would be able to take care of them and help them restore their order.
