Background Pic of TESV Skyrim Website

Post » Thu Jul 08, 2010 9:32 am

I took a screenshot using 3 displays @ 1680x1050 setup vertically. Turned out pretty good. I'm using it as my wallpaper now :)
Under Windows 7 - when selecting the background as your wallpaper, "Fit Mode" seemed to look best IMO.
Here is a sharelink for anyone else that wants it. It's in .png format.

Special thanks to "Suffca" for editing out the annoying play button.

My second attempt... This is the eye of the dragon from the HD video. I added in the TESV and Skyrim logos. 1680x1050

EDITED - Thanks :) Yeah, I believe I got all the vertical data of the picture from the website background, but my resolution couldn't get high enough to capture the horizontal corners to their edges. If someone with 3 larger resolution displays can get a screen shot in portrait mode, they should be able to get the entire background. Someone with three 1900x1200 displays should do it.

The one from elderscrolls.com (in the flash) gives a bigger fuller pic i think. My monitor is only 2048x1152 so the one you provide is good thanks!

I like it, but the text sort of blends in with the background
it might look better if you add a black blur to outline it, or something
just a suggestion! looks great otherwise.

Kinda didn't have a choice with that. It looks good, but that dumb play button is still in the way.. :( You get what you get with screenshots, and I'm not really handy with photo editing...
thanks though :)

The armor that the soldiers on the bottom are wearing really seems to have some Akaviri influence.

I double checked your suggested link (elderscrolls.com) turns out that is the same site I took the screen shot. Maybe your monitor shows more of the pic when you are viewing the website at 2048x1152. Lucky you :)

If you click and drag you can move the image to see more ;), you'd have like 4 play buttons to photoshop out though and it would be a huge pain to combine them perfectly. Yours is good i like the logo :foodndrink:

Quote taken from Lady Nerevar's thread - http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1149611-skyrim-trailer-breakdown/
Who is the Dragonborn?
"Dragon Born" is used to refer to the Cyrodil Emperors, due to their being 'born' from the Alessian covenant with Akatosh. While the Septim empire has fallen, we know that at least one (that of Titus Mede) has taken its place since. The Imperial armor on the man makes Imperial origin almost certain. Dragons are also associated with Akavir and with time, so "Dragon Born" could could be Akaviri or an avatar/embodiment/child of Akatosh (like a Shezarine, but with Akatosh).

Tiber Septim (anon Talos, anon Ysmir) is the emperor most often associated with the dragon sigil. He is also the patron of empire and conquest.

His being shown strongly suggests that the player will once again take a supporting role in TESV, since the hero (the Dragon Born) is established as male and mustachio'd. It is also possible that the Dragonborn will be reincarnated in/ mantled by the player.

Try playing around with the view options of your wallpaper background. It's centers fine for me, but I'm sure resolution and screen size ratio (4:3 vs 16:9) adds some variables in. The displays used for the screen shot were 16x9 but I set them up to stand vertically instead of horizontally. Not sure what that makes the ratio. 9:16 I guess? Anyway, so far you have been the first to report non centered logo. But, the logo itself was part of the screenshot and as I said before, I don't have much skills with photo editing. I kinda liked the logo myself ;)

EDIT - Taking a closer look I also notice that the logo is slightly off centered... I'll try taking another screenshot tomorrow and post it. Thanks for posting Idon'tunderstand

To let us know that the wall corresponds with Skyrim and that it's not just some random wall with inscriptions on it.

Anyways, very nice of you to do this, far327. :foodndrink: It feels nice to get my New Vegas theme off for once.

Now I just need to get a sound pack that sounds Elder Scrolls-y.

Yuck  Nothing I can help with about your bandwidth issues. BUT.... I would change your browser and see if you get better results. Try Internet Explorer 9 or Mozilla Firefox.

I took screens of the entire picture and used photoshop to merge them together. The entire image:

Edit:

Made a few quick changes (1) and also made a darker less contrasty version (2).
