Backup strategy in case ESO fails to appeal to PVE'ers.

Post » Sun Feb 16, 2014 3:37 pm

This is a wholehearted, genuine request.

Problem:

ESO will most likely fail as SWTOR did.

Solution:

Developers, please consider changing ESO into an open pvp, full looting world where player conflict is the primary form of entertainment.

- Just remove all instances so there is a single world.

- Remove the flag so players can attack and kill each other as if players were just NPCs (Followed by looting everything that was on their corpse)

- Remove all NPC guards - This way players will govern cities.

At first there will be chaos, but through survival of the fittest a certain degree of order will emerge.

Come on just do it, modify ESO to the above ruleset and I will pay $299.00 up front for the first year.

That would be suicide for subs. Most people are casual players, and would hate this.

No and no.

I do, however, love that the number of people prophesying doom and destruction has dwindled to a trickle now that the NDA is lifted.

You do know that SWTOR did not in fact fail at least commercially right?

This wouldn't be the smartest move at all.

How about... No.

I'm a PURE PvPer, been doing PvP in many MMO's for over 10 years. I HATED doing quests, I HATED PvE... But Elder Scrolls Online PvE/Questing was the funnest thing I've done in a long time + the PvP was spectacular...

Give it a chance before trying to remake the entire system. Keep in mind, majority of current MMo players are more PvE oriented compared to PvP.

I feel like ESO will be the game to make PvPers love PvE and make PvEers love PvP.

PvP in a mmo is a small % of the total user base, most ppl just enjoy co op or running about! look at WOW raid and pvp stats ppl play for other things than them two types of content.

Adding more story/zones, treasure hunts ect will keep PvE players happy.

My back up plan if the game turns to bantha poodoo is to, play nothing for while except single player games... I see nothing on the mmo radar that intrests me in the short term other than ESO..

But I have a feeling I won't be going anywhere, for a long time...expect Cryodill..:)

Seems like the typical PVP minority is trying to turn a nicely balanced game into a full PVP zone.

Absolutely not...leave the PVP design as it is.

This sounds like an accurate prediction. I personally have always hated questing, leveling, etc...found it to be enjoyable. I have never been a hard core PvP player...but I have my eye on Emperor status at this point. I was always for super-difficult raid content. Now, I may have fun in other areas....like alts and PvP for a change!

I vote for more competitive solo PvP, where you dont have to worry about being targeted by 100 sorc/archers.

Well, see who's made a new open-world pvp thread after this one failed. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1488730-how-npc-looting-should-be-handled-who-gets-to-loot-it/

Considering you are one of the only few asking for it, 299.00 might not be enough. I think 299999 might be needed instead :)

Yes, and especialy in a game like this you wil have 90% sheep, and 10% wolfs. You know this if youre a true hardcoe full loot gamer.

So you think a backup strategy if it fails to appeal to PvE'ers is to... make it even less appealing to even more people? Makes perfect sense.

ESO Fail .. seriously! I've had my issues but not a "nay sayer" type . [censored] if SWG can last for years ... and WoW longer .. ESO is the grand child of DAoC set in Tamriel.

P.S. $300 up front for first year? Hmm you mean 5 of 10's-100's copies already sold? As well as CE and IE ?

Even though I agree that the PvE experience of this game needs allot of improvement this is the most stupid idea I heard to fix it.

ugh

Way to set the bar low man. So if TESO does as "well" as SWTOR it will have been a success?

Assuming all casual players a a bunch of care bears is like saying all Spanish are lazy...

PS: when the facts are that only those for Nerja in South Spain are

Best way to improve the PvE experience in this game is to: Slow down the combat a bit by boosting the HP of all NPCs and then improve there AI to the point where the players actually have to use there defensive skills.

I'd say yes lower budget than swtor I'm guessing, sells 1 million copies times that by 40£ Each, Not bad for day one :) mmos only need 150k users to be profitable WoW is a freak never to happen again.

I enjoy pvp and am a casual player...what has been described has no support for casual gameplay. You can stop trying to insult me now.

O I hate to break it to you but PVPers will be why this game fails not PVE'rs I mean cmon common sense DAOC numbers like 500k Subs at its peak if it ever even reached that many active subs at one time SKyrim had over 7 million players the math isnt that hard to figure out. if this game goes south itll be because of the PVP not the PVE since the TESO PVE is what most of us are in love with

you want a full on crappy ass pvp game? go play DAOC or Warhammer or Eve or any one of those other pvp centric games the PVP here is fine as a side show but itll never be the main show I hope

You do know that SWTOR did not in fact fail at least commercially right?

This wouldn't be the smartest move at all.

Newsflash Swtor was a huge failure that is why it went free to play, NOW it is doing a lot better as a Free 2 play model
