Bad Karma Questions

Post » Tue Nov 09, 2010 4:08 pm

I am doing the bad karma trophies now.

I got the first one for level 8.

I blew up Megaton. A friend said blow up Megaton and you will never be good again. Be mean.

Well it worked.

But I want to do some nice things too.

Be polite.

Like give Agatha her violin and music sheets.

I sent Bryan Wilkes to live with Vera. It was cruel otherwise. It ate my bad karma a bit.

Can I do some nice stuff.

I have no objection to some bad stuff.

Sabotaging Vault 101, killing Amata.

I might become a slaver.

I will try and be evil as possible.

But some stuff I don't want to do. Like hurt the water beggers.

I just ignore them.

I released some captives. That gave good karma.

Can I do some nice stuff and still be evil?

It does not look like I will have a good rank again.

If I like do bad stuff a lot can I do some nice stuff?

I did not kill Ted Strayer in Gotta Shoot Em In The Head because I did not think I would get away with not being seen, chased and killed.

But I killed all the others.

Stealing from people would be silly because they would not trade with me.

Every good thing you do takes away from your bad karma, and before you know it your karma is good. The only good thing I've done on this playthrough is help Arefu solve their problems with the cannibals, so yes, you can still do some good things and still be evil but don't go overboard.

A pretty good quest for an evil character that gives good karma (I think) is the quest to get the ghouls admitted into Tenpenny Tower.

Some of the things that I've done...or ignored.

Megaton is still there
Started to do the bad karma route in tranquility Lane, but didn't like being Dr. Braun's entertainment, so wound up activating the fail safe. No karma change there, came out even.
Killed some of the water beggers
Murdered a few of the BOS (oddly enough, they still seem to be friendly blips on the radar)
Agatha got shot in the head before her quest started.
Ignored Bryan Wilkes (so far) Maybe once I get to Paradise falls I'll sell his ass into slavery
Haven't made it back to V101 yet, so haven't touched it, however I did leave Butch's mom to get eaten by the radroaches.
Killed every Regulator I have seen. If you do this before they ever actually speak to you this will give bad karma (however if you try this after speaking to them there will be no karma change for killing them)

EDIT: Also doing You Gotta Shoot Em in the head. Killed all of them so far except Dave. Then I'm gonna kill that brain eating shuffler.

From my experience with it, cleptomania in this game is a sure way for very evil karma.

Just do your good deeds and then steal some more of the clutter that's lying around in Rivet City, Tenpenny Tower, GNR station, Dukov's Place. You robbed yourself of a lot of items in Megaton that you could otherwise steal as well - all the clutter is worth more bad karma than blowing up the town. If you have it, Point Lookout's Haley's Store has another bunch of objects to steal as well.

With cleptomania, the worth of the item doesn't matter. All that matters is that you're taking an object that doesn't belong to you. So, collecting every fork, white plate or tin can is your ticket.

Also, kill the regulators by yourself; don't let your companions get their hands dirty. That's another 100 bad karma per regulator. Contrary to what the guy above me posted, I lost karma even after they had told me that they wanted to kill me. They aren't evil, so killing them gives you the murder penalty.

I just tested this at the sniper shack and allowed them to speak to me first, then I killed them with Absolutely no Karma penalty whatsoever. If I kill them before I speak to them I will get bad karma.

I can't speak for what say happened to you, maybe you did, but I haven't ever had that happen to me after speaking to them...But then If your karma is already maxed out I guess it might be hard to tell either way.

Other ideas -

Kill everyone on Tranquility Lane as the Pint-Sized Slasher. Don't use the failsafe.
Kill all the Alien Workers (the ones in red jumpsuits that Sally tells you to leave alone) when you do Mothership Zeta. Every dead worker costs you 50 karma points (and often gives you extra Alien Epoxy).
Enslaving Raiders is a great way to earn negative karma, you get -100 karma (as well as 250 caps) per Raider.

As far as stealing stuff goes, if they don't catch you, you can still trade with them.

I am very very evil.... yet there are some things that I just don't do.
I help Bryan Wilkes.
I don't kill any kid's caretakers.
I don't blow up Megaton. I sometimes do blow up the Citadel.
Did you know that Sierra has 65 bottles of Nuka Cola? Steal each and every one, and all of a sudden you are bad to the bone.
I kill 3 Dog for talking crap about me....
Reverse pickpocketing gives bad karma...
Killing Regulators gives bad karma, which I think is strange, since they initiate contact.

Ah, so I forgot Girdershade when I tried to steal everything in one session of being "very very evil". Looks like I'll need a follower afterwards again for taking care of the regulators. :)

Another place with lots of items to steal is Lucky's, south of Tenpenny Tower. The scavenger there has a couple of each schematic items, and she doesn't guard them very thoroughly. This place alone got me from "good" to "evil" or even "very evil" in one stealing session.

And there's Underworld, of course. Carol's Place and the shop have plenty items.

Acquiring multiple copies of Nuka Grenades, Shishkebabs and Rock-it-Launchers from the caravan traders is another way to lose karma.

Scavenger hideouts usually have a couple of items for stealing as well, but I think I've now covered the places with most objects for the big boosts of bad karma that one might need after having done a couple of good deeds.

Whenever you steal something, just take care not to be seen while doing so - unless you enjoy killing people. I don't. :P

Thank you. :)

I got my rank to Very Evil Warmonger Of The Wastes.

I will have to be more evil. It got too close to neutrel by getting to evil.

I killed every alien worker I could on Mothership Zeta.

I am not that good at stealing. But if I am careful it could work.

Killing 3 Dog sounds tempting......

Talking smack about me, nothing pleases him.

If I can get away with it I will kill Ted Strayer. I want to be able to go back to Rivet City though.

I don't suppose stealing from Sierra and killing her would bother me too much.

Or the creepy male that lives near her.

I did a trial run of being the Pint Sized Slasher on a failed evil male.

I did not like doing Brauns dirty work.

And keeping them there is cruel.

I am making my sneak high this playthrough.

I killed Roy Phillips and his gang with some frag grenades when they were having breakfast, lol.

If I do the evil things in the dlcs it should be ok.

The Pitt dose'nt know what the hell it is doing though.

You take Marie it is bad. You work with Ashur, it is bad.

I will free the slaves I think. Then leave as fast as I can.

I loathe and despise The Pitt.

The woman who replaces him.... it's pretty funny.

If I can get away with it I will kill Ted Strayer. I want to be able to go back to Rivet City though.

Just wait three days, AWAY from Rivet City (think: a different game cell). I don't kill him, cuz well me and him, "just chillin dude."

I don't suppose stealing from Sierra and killing her would bother me too much.

I steal from her AFTER I get the prize.

Or the creepy male that lives near her.

I pop him immediately for his unique weapon lol.

The Pitt dose'nt know what the hell it is doing though.

I don't mind the Pitt. I just hate looking for ingots.

Cannibal gives lots of bad karma too. I don't know if Mr. Sandman does, probably depends on who you off.

I am repeating myself, I know, but really: stealing is the way to go.

Just as an example: I entered Point Lookout as "good". By just taking everything from the two shops and from Kenny's cave (before he allowed me to stay), I was back to "evil" before I even noticed it; and I only got a couple of items of Kenny before he noticed me and I "Child at Heart"ed my way into his home.

If you have the Operation Anchorage DLC, then just equip the Chinese Stealth Armor and all your troubles concerning getting caught while stealing are solved.

One quick and not very thorough visit at Dukov's Place would for instance solve all your current karma issues.

Yes id say that cannibal would ge one of your greatest tools if you wanna play a good cop bad cop type character, because all you need to do is kill a bunch of raiders and eat their corpses. Then boom you are bad, but really didn t do anthing wrong. You get to at leasr neutal after the megaton bomb( Ive done so). I m sure you could get back to good. That is so early in the game. Hey and when in doubt not only don t give the bums water but give them some combat shotty. There s double bad karma. Or just kill some random waste land people. They are mostly jerks anyway. You save them from a deathclaw then they act like they r better than u. Teach them who s better.
