Bad Performance Of Next-Gen Versions Of The Evil Within

Post » Fri Oct 17, 2014 2:49 am

Digital Foundry has performed the usual scrupulous anolysis of the performace of The Evil Within for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, finding that the version for Sony's console runs at a resolution of 1920x768 while the one for Microsoft's console settles on 1600x640.
In reality it is the 1080p and 900p net black bands that reduce approximately 29% of the surface rendering, with a ratio of 2.5: 1.
The console command on the PC that allows you to remove the black bars, actually end up cutting the side of the image zooming her more and thus making the game less playable.
On the fluidity, The Evil Within behaves badly on both machines, with framerate drops from the first scene, which in some open areas more complex drop below 20 updates per second, then back on the 30 declared when entering areas closed.

We are in the next gen and these are the results? compliments

**SIGH** But... but... the lighting!!!! Have you seen the fog and lighting? The human eye can't even interpret 20fps. No one can even tell the difference between 480i and 1080p.

http://www.gamesas.com/user/943943-vishmarx/ Many years have passed since the days of the PS2. Here we talk about next gen, I'm sorry but do not agree with your intervention.

and why do numbers suddenly take precedence over the enjoyment?

thats probably why we do not have quality jrpgs anymore, this crowd will just murder devs if god forbid a huge and amazing jrpg didnt look like a cg movie or had fps dips or it isnt 1080p. why do you think we had the least memorable games last gen? it became all about the numbers and how the digital foundry anolysis fared an who won, every game wanted to be a AAA eye candy shallow spectacle fest

you guys are gaming for all the wrong reasons.

im glad this game got made , and ill continue to support AA game development so long so called AAA devs of games like like destiny or titanfall do not get tteir head in the right place

AA games is the very reason ps2 era is considered the best.

Looks great on the XBox ONE.

Plays really smooth too.

Was the ONE the lead platform?

Have to agree when it comes to numbers and enjoyment, soon everyone will want all games displaying 4k at 240fps and those would be just console specs. LOL :shakehead:

Not at 1600x640 lol. That's terrible. Did you read the anolysis? The textures are inferior too on the One they said.

Yet I'm having a better experience in game.

At least you've got a better experience on paper? :D

I'm sure they'll get it patched soon.

Well not every single PS4 player is having issues just like not every single PC/XB1 players are having issues. The proof isn't on paper it's in a video anolysis with concrete proof. XB1 version runs at 600p. It shouldn't have frame rate issues at that resolution lol.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Personally I hope they get it playing great for people on all the platforms.

When it runs like it should it's an enjoyable game.
