Bad performance with ATI 5770 + Core 2 Duo E8400@3.3 GHz?

Post » Thu Sep 01, 2011 3:49 am

Hi guys, I'd like to know what settings do you use in MP (if you have a similar setup), because with my PC if I want to get around 60 FPS I have to use the lowest settings (High) and 1440x900 (DX9 mode), no High Res textures; if I go to Very High @ 1280x800 I get around 40 FPS, not bad, but not enough to stay competitive (well, at least to svck less :)

I expected more from this card. Maybe the processor is not good enough?

I have ATI HD 5770 with a 6 core processor and I have to play all on minimum @1600*900 as well to get 60 FPS. Before patch 1.9 I could play all settings on Extreme at 1920*1080 at 60FPS with the same set up.

It's a fail.

Actually a single one of my 5770's had an average of 45 fps on extreme (around 80 average in CF) at 1400x900, I myself didn't notice a drop between old DX9 extreme and DX11 extreme settings, I just didn't like the bad performance with ultra and tessellation enabled which is why I upgraded.

Then again I didn't use high res textures. Maybe that's the problem people are having with an fps drop?

Yes I get ~40FPS on extreme at 1600*900 as well. 40FPS is not as good as 60FPS though.

40 FPS maybe isn't as good as 60 FPS is, but it's enough... Anyway, I'm getting a new CPU next week, I hope that I can play it with at least 30 FPS O.o

I'm lookin' at a SandyBridge setup sometime, 2500k or 2600k, i want it @ 5Mhz and i won't settle for less, (being in Scotland helps with temps), something tells me the 2500k will be a better OCer but it's just a hunch, the online benchmarks are good but i don't trust em', cnet game my new passive 3D monitor(passive is the new chit, costs way less to setup) a very bad review when all it needs is tweaking.
All the same, good luck with your new setup.

Thanks. I hope for some improvements too. Right now I can't even run Windows 7 normally, in Crysis 1 the sound laggs and Crysis 2 is more like a slideshow.
