[RELz] Badmagic - Landscape Fix for Fanacasecul

Post » Wed Jun 02, 2010 6:52 pm

As with the last landscape fix, this is just something I'm tired or re-creating every time I reinstall the game.

I don't know what mod does this, if any but lands missing in a square just north of the Ruin "Fanacasecul", I remember in the past some people pointed to the UOP being a possible culprit but I doubt it, could be the Unique Landscapes mods, maybe, maybe not, don't care really, this fixes the issue for me whatever the cause.

As the last one was needed by others also just making the thread this time without waiting, if people suffer the same issue they can grab this to see if it works for them as it fixes it for me each time I make it.

I have this problem, seemingly at random. Time to try your fix and see if it cures the issue.

This missing landscape cell bug you're encountering has nothing at all to do with any mods of any sort. It's a random engine bug. It's caused by running low on resources but not low enough to crash the game at that particular moment. There's not much point in blaming a particular mod or set of mods for it because I've seen it happen in strictly vanilla games in many of the same reported problem areas. Saving the game at the location and then reloading from desktop always fixes it. Yes, it's irritating, but it does work.

From a technical standpoint, what you're doing with these fix files shouldn't matter. Plenty of the places this pops up have edits made to them already. Unless it's something bizarre about the positions of the particular objects you're moving. I don't know. Just the fact that it seems to fix it for you is strange enough to be interesting.

Strange though, the reload trick never worked for me, like I say I have no idea why these "fix" files work for me but they seem to stop it happening entirely.

Its almost like the game simply cant read the information for these areas but making the esp with the minor alteration (nudge a rock for example) is enough to let it read the information.

Well the reload trick only works if you completely exit the game, then load back up. Regardless, it simply doesn't make sense that kicking a rock should matter, but then this is Oblivion we're talking about here :)

Since these edits are about as harmless as harmless gets I think they'd make good additions for the UOP. Nudging a rock is so trivial it's unlikely anyone would really notice and if the problem goes away it's certainly worth it.
