Balance issues

Post » Fri Jun 25, 2010 10:04 pm

OK, is it me or does the balance seem way off when shooting human enemies. When I shoot at humans, it seems I have to empty 2 clips to get them to die. Where I on the other hand, I get taken out after only a few shots. Seems to be the same even when I level up or increase skills (gun perks,etc.). Is anyone else having same problem? I have Steam digital version. What's my best option?

What difficulty are you playing? Harder difficulties increase "difficulty" by decreasing the player's damage (as well as increasing enemy damage), thus enemies will seem more bullet-spongy while you're more fragile. The decrease of the player's damage is NOT shown in equipment listings. eg, if you're on VH and your gun says you'll do 25dmg with it, cut that in half.

Edit: Should add it could be enemy DT vs. your current gun dmg. vs. your DT and the enemy dmg, as well. Don't know where you are in the game so...

Yup, on normal i can drop most humans with few headshots. Depending on their armor and my gun and ammo, of course. Be sure to make use of different ammo types: HP for soft targets, AP for armored targets, special/bulk ammo for trash, and normal when you don't know what it is :D

I am actually playing on normal and I was about 1/3 of my way through the game. I believe I was about level 6 or 7. I decided to start over hoping that different choices at the beginning would help. I guess I'll find out. Fallout 3 didn't seem to be as tough. This game is very frustrating so far.

By the way, any quest where I need to take out more than one enemy becomes almost impossible, whether it is considered an easy quest or not.

No I am 100000000000000000000000 times more powerful than anyone in that game excluding Lanius. The game is easy peasy.

Try reading about dt and different bullets. Are you out there in your under wear or something?

Are you hitting the targets when you put 2 clips into them?

Also you may want to try moving around, or taking cover.

In real life would you stand there and just get shot a bunch of times?

You would have to give us a synopsis of how you play, your build, what armor and weapons you are using, what kind of tactics and playstyle you utilize... need more dataz.... svckage can usually be cured, but we need to know what you're doing (and not doing), before we can really give accurate advice for your situation. Describe for us one of these 'impossible' quests with 2 or more enemies to fight- how do you prepare for it? How do you approach the encounter, and what do you do during the fights? Etc....

If you're doing a "blind" 1st playthrough, I'd advise going off the beaten path a bit more once you're around Novac maybe. Get off the main road once in a while. Talk to every NPC, get more side quests, explore. Find stuff. Sell stuff. Kill stuff, level up. Buy more stuff. If you're having a lot of trouble combat wise, get a human companion to follow along, they're a huge equalizer & have fun quests/stories on their own too. Use VATS as much as you can if enemy speed is a problem. Or lower the difficulty below Normal until you're more familiar with the game. Nothing wrong with that. Not everyone has a playstyle conducive to becoming a fast enemy-pwner.

And yes, more description about chr/build etc. would help people give more specific tips.
