One of them will be your follower for all eternity. If they are already dead for any reason, they will come back to life and serve you. They cannot be replaced. As your follower they will play 3rd wheel if a quest requires you to have a specific follower. (serana will follow her self and you) The other 3 of whom you did not select will die forever.
