Ballistic Weave... Just why cant I....

Post » Sat Mar 05, 2016 1:11 am

why oh why cant I put ballistic weave on hats other than the newspaper boy hat, the battered fedora, the trilby hat, and the green rag hat? I mean these are the ugliest hats in the game! Why cant i put it in a sea captain's hat? or a formal hat? I have to settle for my character looking like a homeless charlie brown.... I mean seriously why let me add it to a tuxedo but then not the matching hat? its ridiculous that something like this is even a thing... I mean I have to stare at this character for 200+ hours and look at that hat? Holy crap Bethesda fix this!

Yeah it blows. Really hoping they expand the available clothing pool for BW.

I hope so as well. I thought at first they were trying to keep the weave off of clothing that also gave stat boosts, but then you have army fatigues as upgradeable, so I don't see how they made their determination of what will be and won't be moddable. I suspect, just given Bethesda's past, that they meant to put it on all clothing, but they flubbed it somehow. It is now low enough of a priority that they can't take the half hour or so that it would require to go inside the code and tick the little box that makes them available to be upgraded with ballistic weave.

Its more like don't care enough to fix it... They don't care if we are happy with the game... They care if we are able to physically play the game... They don't care that if we want good armor than we are forced to stare at that ugly piece of dog crap they call a hat while putting in 200+ hours into everything else in the game... This is making me even more mad talking about it.. I mean seriously It may seem petty but we put hours upon hours upon hours into the game so we can customize/upgrade and ultimately make the game our own and then are forced to stare at that hat the whole time... I feel powerless to make my character look even half way decent because of it...

If you're going for the Tux look you may as well just put a smart hat with no weave on as the tux with weave is still going to be way less protection than say the military fatigues with weave as you can add arm, leg and chest armour to that. Even with mkV weave the tux and most of the fun outfits are still mainly for show and charisma.

I understand that. I wanted a stylish outfit suited for most regular questing and I have my power suit for the crazy stuff. But that is another 90 def and 90 shock! I mean with just the tux and hat I am sitting at 240 def (with stat points) which is fine for normal questing. Like I said for the heavy stuff we have a power suit... but to sacrafice the hat I sit at 150...

Only the four mentioned above, which is pretty poor as they all look crap.

Yeh I know what you mean it just limits your choices which is odd in such an open world, customisable game.

I just wish the developers would actual look at posts like these and realize that we like having options.. And do something about it... By the looks of this forum they haven't even posted patch updates here since 1.2... So I doubt they will see this thread...

hmm... They may look.... But looking is not the same as doing... This is like really ruining the realism of the game for me.

Bah. None of the hats should get Ballistic Weave, or at least not the full 110 DR from it, that's f'ing stupid. Neither should any of the underarmor. But more full-body apparel needs it.

The thing about the hats is actually pretty odd. Regardless of the fact that it may seem stupid to add tons of protection to a hat, the fact that you can add weave to a Battered Fedora (Luck+1) yet you can't add it to a Dirty Fedora (Luck+1) makes no sense whatsoever.

Well if that is what they were to decide I would be ok with it. But don't allow it with 4 select crappy hats and then not the rest. Its making me choose between aesthetics and protection... Either make it not available to any hats or available to all hats.. not somewhere in the middle... I can understand not allowing it with def stat increasing hats but fedoras and ball caps/ formal hats... come on

I really don't get why they limited the ballistic weave so much. I get that it's incredibly overpowered, but saying that we can put it on x but not y is nothing more than an aesthetic difference.

I believe there are 5-6 outfits that can get BW and be worn with full suits of armor on top, and basically none of them look good to me. I can put BW on the army fatigues, but I like the way it looks on the Vault Suit more. It's just more aesthetically pleasing to me. Aesthetics are really the only difference.

I have Armorsmith Extended installed, so I can put BW on basically anything now, but it'd be nice to just see it in the game itself.

The hell is wrong with my trilby? Explain yourself.

Seriously though, I do love the Weave. I'm currently wearing a clean striped suit with a trilby and fashionable glasses. Level 4 Weave on the suit and hat. Crazy good. And when I see my character in a kill-cam, these clothes just seem to fit the tone of the game.

I wish we could put Ballistic Weave on all the outfits that don't support armour, and all the hats.

I would wear the Military Fatigues and the Military Hat, if the hat had weave, which it doesn't. Luckily, the hipster Trilby looks ok with my upgraded Atom Cats outfit, so I'm cool with it for now.

It seems you're taking your personal taste as a direct insult from Bethesda. It's not that they don't care, it's that they made the game they thought people would like. That absolutely will never include every single person. They simply can't cater to everyones wants. If you're playing PC I'm sure you can change what you are asking for right now or soon. And if consoles, that will also likely be an option at some point. But to say they don't care because they didn't hand feed you what you wanted is just ignorant self entitlement. You basically come off childish throwing a little tantrum
