Ballistic weave overpowered?

Post » Sat Dec 05, 2015 7:48 am

Ive unlocked ballistic weave, and with level 25 you can be Armorer 3. So you just take a normal hat + clothes, put ballistic weaves on it and you already get 180 ballistic and 180 energy resistance. At level 25. Without Armor.

Is that a bug or something because it seems to be ridiculously overpowered?

Search function turns up: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1564754-ballistic-weave-is-op-and-isnt-available-for-some-clothing/page-4?hl=%2Bballistic#entry24634066

Personally I haven't used it yet, as I'm fond of another outfit at the moment. I would give it a go if the military hat was capable of it. I honestly don't understand why it isn't considering the military fatigues are  I think it'd go rather well with the character I was handed at the beginning of the game.

Bear in mind that that's cumulative across your body. Wear a set of normal armour pieces and go to your Stats in PipBoy, and you'll find that it adds up to a similar total.

Of course, where it starts getting crazy is that you can mod armour-friendly clothes like Military Fatigues the same way, and then strap armour pieces on top of them.

I like ballistic weave because it enables me to armor my Atom Cats outfit so I can represent when doing cool things....like clear out the Combat Zone.

Thing is, it evens out the game for those who doesn't want to use Power armor. The moment you use power armor, that weave does nothing.

I'll agree it probably needs a bit of fine tuning, both in stats and how it is implemented. But otherwise, I think it is fine with a real alternative to power armor (weave will never get to the level of PA anyways, but if offers good protection for stealth characters)

It's not all that great when compared to fully upgraded synth / combat armor you get way more bag for your buck w/ the synth / combat you have so much more flexibility not to mention build options to suit your preferred style
