(Ballistic Weave) Why the Heck....?

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 2:32 am

Ballistic Weave is one great way to preserve bag space while keeping my defense at tip-top condition.

I also love the fact that Minutemen Outfit, Baseball Outfit are upgrade-able and still allowed to assign armor pieces, making me like a badass bullet deflector.

But is there any reason why great ones like Harness, Synth Outfit, Drifter Outfit, etc can't be modified??

Harness is my favorite to go along with my (weak) Chameleon Leather Piece or Combat Armor set attached.

Kinda hope the dev can change this through update.

No, there is no reason. I posted a thread about this a while back, and there was a pretty overwhelming majority opinion that we should be able to apply it to anything. I see no rational reason for it. My biggest gripe was with the under-armor outfits that let you wear full suits of armor over the top. There are only like 5 outfits that can get ballistic weave and have full armor over the top, and I didn't care for the looks of any of them. Being able to apply ballistic weave to the Vault Suit or BOS Uniform is going to offer absolutely no advantage over applying it to the army/military fatigues (or any under-armor garment). It's purely a matter of aesthetics I ended up installing the Armorsmith Extended mod that allows ballistic weave to be applied to any articles of clothing, along with a lot of other added bonuses as far as armor crafting is concerned.

Here's the thread I posted if you're interested in reading it

Synth and drifter doesn't make sense, harness I guess could make sense because it's not that protecting.

That is exactly the reason why I love playing these games on PC. There is a mod available on the Nexus that allows you to add ballistic weave to pretty much any clothing you like, including the harnesses.

You would NEVER see things like this if you waited around for Bethesda to do it.

At the moment...... According to theory, mods are coming to consoles for Fallout 4.... and simple mods like this, that are just an .esp file, will be perfect for consoles.

Not to sound like a butt or anything, but I wouldn't bother playing any Bethesda game on a console. To be honest, these games are far too buggy, and far too incomplete to play them that way. You often find a myriad of fixes for everything wrong with these titles when community modders get involved with them, Bethesda isn't known for really fixing their titles post release, or just updating them for flavor.

That's...really not a theory, Bethesda, Sony and Microsoft all confirmed that mods are coming to console. It was one of the things covered in the E3 presentation of Fallout 4.

I wish I could add it to the harness, BoS uniform and BoS officer uniform. As well as the flannel shirt and jeans. Come on I can add it to a bathrobe but not a pair of jeans and flannel shirt?

I don't know what version of their games you have had on consoles, but my copy of Fallout 4 has had no game-breaking bugs or glitches. Only froze on a loadscreen once for me. It's the people who get the issues who speak the loudest, therefore making it appear that most console copies of FO4 are buggy, glitchy hell-holes.

I do wish that Ballistic Weave could be incorporated into other clothing and outfits, but not necessarily ALL of them (some make no sense, IMHO). BoS Uniform and Fatigues would make sense since the Brotherhood is a militaristic group, focusing on defense and power, after all. If the army fatigues can be given Weave, why not the BoS outfits? And, yes, I do mainly wear those for superficial, aesthetic reasons, and don't care what anyone else thinks about my choices.

Exactly. LOL.

Ballistic weave be like:

Courser outfit? Yep. Baseball outfit? Of course. Sequin dress? Sure. Green shirt and boots? Sure thing. Summer shorts? Also sure. Bathrobe? Damn sure.

BOS outfit? You're out of your mind.

yes but we still have to wait for the geck to come out and then wait for a modder to make that mod and bring it to console.....(thats if it flys with microsoft and or sony.) and even then people who are on console will have to rely on modders on pc (the ones without pc's to mod that is.) So after all that we still cant just go in the game files and change anything without having a pc to do it.

I don't like adding it to hats (doesn't feel well-balanced at all, IMO), but I can't think of any reason not to let all clothes and outfits have it. Just how big of a difference is there between a green shirt and combat boots and road leathers?

I can agree with that much. Being able to add ballistic weave to a trilby hat and add 110 damage resistance and 110 energy resistance to your entire body is pretty far removed from reality. Obviously Fallout 4 isn't meant to be "realistic" as such, but this is still incredibly questionable even within the scope of the fantasy world. You can mod a trilby hat to have -significantly- more resistance to both energy and general damage than a synth helmet or combat armor helmet. That's a bit much.

* cough * .... ballistic weave is meant for clothing pieces that do NOT allow armor , BUT it's a single player game so feel free to put 110 defense on a hat :)

There are 7 under-armor clothes that can get the upgrade and many outfits that are incompatible with armor that can't get the upgrade.

I totally agree - I've played it for a few weeks now and only really crashed once ever. I've not met any game-breaking bugs or anything, but I also agree with the OP that I wouldn't play Bethesda games on the console. Not because they're buggy, but because you miss out on so many game enhancing mods. The vanilla game is plenty fun, but why settle for that? :)

while I would ordinarily completely agree, at the same time the helmets in this game look horrendous in my opinion. I'll just take my handy dandy mod and add some BW to my military cap thank you. Does it make sense? NOPE, does it look bad ass? yes

my opinion; it should only work on outfits. wearing it under armor is ez mode on the survival setting.

I'm not a fan of getting killed by a bullet sponge apparently.

So it'll be great if I become a bullet sponge when fighting a bullet sponge. That's what I call "balanced"

I wouldn't bother doing the exact opposite. It is a purer experience, you know that what you have achieved is non negotiable and disputable. I hope mods on consoles nulify saving or at least trophies.
