BALTHIER

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 6:04 pm

I just couldn't place it! But every now and then, just now and then, I would hear this voice shout out to me during the game that I knew I recognized. Who was that? Why did he sound so familiar? Because it's bloody http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balthier from Final Fantasy XII, one of my all time favorite video game characters.

Apparently he has made a triumphant return as various Imperial Soldiers and other characters. Hahaha, anyone else catch this?

It's not because this is the guy that voiced him.

Unless your making a funny and I never played a FF game so it's whatever.

Edit: Never mind I missed skyrim in the list of games he has done.

Goofball. I know who voiced Balthier. Read the rest of the resume on the page you linked to, and you'll see Skyrim listed as well. The voice actor that did Balthier has also done several voices in Skyrim, voices which I recognized and that have been nagging at me to figure out where else I'd heard them before.

I was editing as you replied but i added that I missed it in the list of games, and cool he did blackburn in BF3.

oh lol

Yea they listed it in a strange way, putting it alphabetically with "E" but starting the name with "The," so it's easy to miss. No harm done.

Well he's gone up in the world! The last FF I enjoyed was X. Its been downhill ever since *retreats off to corner and plays FF VII. AGAIN*

Actually, XII wasn't all THAT bad. Its just the OTT voice acting makes me want to strangle a kitten, and the original creator left and that shows. Lost Odyssey is worth a go if you haven't played it.

I loved FFXII. I know i might be alone in that, but something about it just struck a cord in me.

Nothing will top FFVI though. NOTHING.

All that said, ill have to keep my ear out for him. I liked his VO a lot, and Balthier was pretty badass as a character. After all, he was the leading man.

I actually rank Final Fantasy XII among my favorites of the series and I've played all of them. I know it's reviled by a large portion of the fanbase but I felt its plot and setting were more true to the old Final Fantasies than any of the recent games. I am a huge fan of customization such as what Skyrim allows and I really liked that I could build my party however I pleased in FFXII.

I know some may immediately point to FFIX since it was intentionally done in the old style and it was great... but FFXII represents to me the direction I wish the series was headed, while FFXIII is more of what we can expect from this point onwards. :sadvaultboy:

Most will recognize him as the voice of Fenris from Dragon Age II. And I nearly got up and danced when I heard him.

Okay, so I danced...

Gideon Emery is an excellent voice actor. I am disappointed that he doesn't seem to voice any major NPCs. Ah well.

I'd settle for a companion voiced by him. Then when we stumble on a cache of treasure in a thieves' den he can refer to it as a repository of wrested relics and raiments.

That reminds me, I want to find out if the "Ogrid..Patron of the great clan Battle-born!" NPC is who I think it is.
He sounds like Pete from Disney games/shows.
