NO BANANAS?!

It seems Skyrim is a safehaven for the atheists of Tamriel.

Well, since it is confirmed that you can pay NPC's in taverns to play music..

It would be a fun easter egg if you could make them do "yes, we have no bananas".

Do you have some strange fetish with Bananas? Why is the lack of them so disturbing to you?

I'm not too upset with this.

Can't have every fruit and vegetable!

There will be lots of other things to make into potions.

Huh, I don't see why they wouldn't include him. Not like it'd be hard to do, unlike something like, I dunno, throwing weapons and the like. You wouldn't happen to have a link to that little tidbit, would ya?

That video is confusing... But it doesn't matter, because I don't believe in bananas, or god. Just Daedra.

Can't believe nobody's put that in their sig yet.

Wonder why? I think he's really an avatar of some god. A god from outside the Tamriel's universe (*cough*). Thus, he should have no problem still being around 200 years later.

I think it's time we move away from the bananas and start focussing on this question instead:
Also what other foods do you think would be current in the Skyrim area?

It would be against Lore to include them as free standing harvestable items, but at least not as raw store bought fruits imported from the South. Both arguments sound fine, but i honestly don't really care. I've never saw Bananas in any of the other games so i won't be affected. Although *insert obvious sixual innuendo joke*

Other foods likey given the climate (and human history):

Oats, goats (meat, milk, cheese and butter), berries of various kinds, fish - fresh and dried, pork and bacon - bacon very important for the winter, dried pulses like peas and beans (that store in cold climates), root vegetables (turnip and carrot type things), various edible herbs, rye bread, honey.

Things they probably would not have had (going by human history)

Pastry - this came into use later than you would think
Taters - these only came over from the new world quite late on
Wheat based things - oats and rye grow better in harsh climates, wheat originaly came from the near east.

Cyrodill was temperate rainforest, not tropical

Someone misunderstood and called it jungle
To clarify Alaska has temperate rainforest

They would have to import bananas from Valenwood, and in a time of Civil War and transition from empire back into city states would make that a low priority.

No bananas = Pre-order cancelled. Bethesda has gone too far this time.

Can't wait to see what dishes we can cook though =]

I guess it's just a technicality, but I think I would've preferred they named the fruits and veggies something different in Oblivion anyway. Just because they look like earth fruit doesn't mean it is. They gave all the plants, roots and mushrooms unique fantasy non-earth names, so why not produce?

Oh my gosh, do you think that... that... M'aiq is CTHULU?!?

Not really. I remember that I harvested Aloe Vera and Bergamot, which are real world flora.
