First off, I just want to say that BC makes the cities worlds better, and I don't think I'll ever play Oblivion without this mod again. :)

Second, I have one...well, not problem, but point of curiosity. When I used the standalone bankmod, I remember being able to talk to some merchants in the outlying cities and withdraw gold from there. With the merged version, those topics don't appear. Since I'm using LAME and thus can teleport, it's not a huge deal, but I'm curious if they're supposed to be there and I'm missing them. I'm running version 4-6-1c

Vorians moved the topics from vanilla NPCs to the Gold Horse Courier for which there is a lodge in each city.

First thing. Been using Bananasplit's better cities for years. Great stuff. Makes a big difference in my game. REALLY appreciated.

Normally I've never had much problem. But lately it seems to be misplacing a bunch of textures (or, meshes, whatever the tech term is). So, basically, buildings growing out of castle walls, ships embedded in the port, etc.

I thought at first it might be a mod conflict (still could be for all I know), so I removed most of the mods that I "thought" might be conflicting. Removed Better Cities. Clean saved. Checked a few known areas that I'd been seeing issues. Everything looked fine (well, as good as vanilla can be : )

Installed the latest Better Cities (create mod, point at the archive, etc.), but the problem still remains. Problems showed back up. Fairly large problems. Here are some pics to show want I mean. Anyway wondering what I should do to correct all this. Here is my mod list. I've tried it directly after installing and then after using BOSS. Same problems. Any ideas on how to fix? Pretty sure this is after I tried BOSS.

When I make a change to better cities via a console command, in my case, removing wine barrels from the IC to speed up frame rates, does that change remain applied from when I close the game, turn off my computer, and then reboot and launch oblivion again? If it doesn't, what method should I use for making a lasting setting change in better cities? Thanks.

First thing. Been using Bananasplit's better cities for years. Great stuff. Makes a big difference in my game. REALLY appreciated.

Normally I've never had much problem. But lately it seems to be misplacing a bunch of textures (or, meshes, whatever the tech term is). So, basically, buildings growing out of castle walls, ships embedded in the port, etc.

I thought at first it might be a mod conflict (still could be for all I know), so I removed most of the mods that I "thought" might be conflicting. Removed Better Cities. Clean saved. Checked a few known areas that I'd been seeing issues. Everything looked fine (well, as good as vanilla can be : )

Installed the latest Better Cities (create mod, point at the archive, etc.), but the problem still remains. Problems showed back up. Fairly large problems. Here are some pics to show want I mean. Some in Imperial City and some in Leyawiin (port side). Hope these URLs work. First time I've tried Imageshack.

You clearly have mod conflicts. Start by correcting your load order and move the above-listed up before the BC ESPs. Once you've done that, check in-game again then let us know what issues remain. You say you used BOSS, but you didn't follow the instructions for BOSS usage. After running BOSS, any mod BOSS didn't recognise is dumped at the end of your load order, leaving it to you to determine where the ESP should be positioned (then it would be good to post in the BOSS forum thread, naming the mod and the ESP, linking to where the mod comes from, and suggesting a likely place in the BOSS masterlist for the ESP to belong).

This should resolve the conflicts shown in your screenshots 1,2,3,4,6,7,8. I don't see the problem in screenshot 5.
Screenshots 3 and 4 show missing textures for ship cabin windows and one Leyawiin building on the docks. BC doesn't having anything to do with window textures, so this is not related to Better Cities. You're using AWLS (1D WindowLightingSystem.esp) - perhaps the texture pack you chose is not fully installed?

I recently upgraded the version of Better Cities to 461b (it is still not the latest 461c, but reading the changelog, it did not affect my game it seems - anyway I am waiting for the next fix with the correct GoldHorse courier greeting), but noticed the following anomalies:

1) On my recent visit to the Imperial City (Market District?), I noticed the skeleton with the thumbs up and a bottle (from Warcry) is now floating in the air. I distinctly remember it sitting on the wall next to the pond - did something in the layout to affect this?
2) In Chorrol, the sign outside the public bath for women is stuck in a tilted angle (as if it moved by the wind and got stuck) - the sign for the men's bath is fine. Maybe this needs a fix? Also, I noticed that the vanilla signs move when you hit them with a weapon, but these signs are unaffected - can this be tweaked for realism sake (not high priority at all)?

I am at work so can't post my LO, but I believe all BC packages are installed via BAIN are green (not overwritten by anything except AWLS), and the latest BOSS masterlist (from google code) is being used.

I've noticed the zip files contain a lot of BSAs, some with only three files. May be better to use loose files instead of some many BSAs to save on the number of BSAs in the Data folder?
Personally I've unpacked all the BSAs and made a BAIN package with all the files loose, so that I can easily spot conflicts while re-installing my game. When I'm finished ironing out all the conflicts I plan to repack all the files into one BSA. What should I name it? Will Better Cities .BSA work?


Also I discovered some conflicts with the resources used by MTC_Thives Grotto:

Loose files are harder to install and uninstall. With BSAs we can just tell people to drop the BSAs into the Data folder, or to just delete the BSAs from the Data folder, or we can ask them to list their BC BSAs and we can know exactly which resources they are using and whether they are using the wrong resources or are missing some resources. Some of the BSAs contain conflicting resources, so leaving them loose makes it harder to remove if someone does install the wrong set of resources.

BC has integrated the entirety of MTC Bravil River Shack & Village, which Nernie created. She then went on to create MTC Thieves Grotto and reused some of her own resources, which is why some of her resources from both mods are included in BC. Because BC's resources are in BSAs, and MTC Thieves Grotto resources are not, they will override the BC versions as the game favours un-BSA'd resources over BSA'd resources. This is harmless.

Stop trying to peep at the female baths!

I noticed that but I had no clue on how to fix it. But now I learned that collision from other items placed in the world can hinder the movement of other items so I can only guess that the house building or something else has some weird collision going on and I will check that to see if I can place that sign to a place where it can swing properly.

Edit: Fixed the sign. Wait until next version to get it.

QTP3 patch make the texture looks vanilla. If you don't want that, you don't use that patch and that bsa
QTP3 doesn't have B&M colors texture at all nor meshes. There is no QTP3 textures with the same color as B&M. They don't exist.
So if you want B&M color you use the B&M bsa we provide.

Appreciate the help. I followed your instructions. This appeared to fix all problems that I initially was seeing in IC.

However, it did nothing for Lewyawiin (I'm ignoring the windows issues). That said, maybe the ship is supposed to be pushed up into the building like that? The double doors entry into Leyawiin itself is pretty strange, though. I glanced through my list of mods and don't see any that would be impacting that area. And, it all goes back to normal if I uninstall BC and then immediately shows back up again as soon as I install BC.

I may try a manual install (so, try to maually create an OMOD if there are instructions).

At the very least I'll remove it, do a clean save, re-install and make sure it's at the end of the mod list.

I have at least one island house mod that is located out in the Leyawiin bay. I'll see if I can locate any of those and remove just in case they are causing a conflict. I'll go ahead and remove Animated Windows and chimneys just to get that variable out of the picture. I don't want to do more than that since that would mean almost going back to a new game and I'm saving that for when I get a new computer (possibly later this fall or winter).

Another possible bug report:

In Chorrol Castle, once you enter the West Tower from the main hall (I was doing the stolen painting quest and was looking inside the various rooms) - you see two entrances to the Arch Tower (one is a hatch, the other is a door) - I entered the door and started falling in an abyss (nothing was around me) - I could see a moon up in the sky, but I was just falling. Had to reload. Is this something changed by BC?

Don't uninstall AWLS, it's an excellent mod and works perfectly. Instead, reinstall it, ensuring that you are using a texture pack as well as the main package.

Ooh, wow, now how did the teleport marker get... well I don't actually know where this is, but it certainly shouldn't be here! Thanks for reporting that, I'll fix it for our next release.

That was the info I needed. I thought the ship was from your mod.

So, I used FormID to figure out what mod the ship belonged to. It showed it as belonging to Gwenden Brothel. I removed that mod and the graphic problems went away. I'll check to see if the mod author for Gwenden Brothel has put up a fixed version (or, it could be just the way I installed it, so could be just my problem).

Anyway, thank you very much for your help (and your mod : )

Ooh, wow, now how did the teleport marker get... well I don't actually know where this is, but it certainly shouldn't be here! Thanks for reporting that, I'll fix it for our next release.

The room location:

Enter the castle main hall, go up the stairs to the left door for the private quarters (needs key) - on the left, there is a room for Chanel (the castle mage), and a little ahead on the left side is a corridor with an entrance to the west tower. Once inside - there are 2 exits (1 door to arch tower, 1 trap door hatch to west tower below). Take the door to the arch tower. Once inside, again another room with 2 exits - one door to arch tower, and one trap door to arch tower. If you go through the door (not the trap door hatch), you fall into the abyss.

Wish I could've taken a screen shot, but I hope the description helps you zoom in on the right one.

I am in the process of installing BC.

In the 4-6-1c there is a patch for UL Skingrad Outskirts. But there is also a separate one under optional files on the nexus. While it does say "use instead of version in the BC v4.6.0d archive" it has a more recent upload date. To add to the confusion they also have different names. BOSS does not report anything wrong if both are installed. :confused:

So which should I use?
