[Relz] Bananasplit's Better Cities - Thread 36

All the vendor signs on my current version of Better Cities Full B&M are purple with no text (Gold horse Courier, Mining Supplies, even those new shops added in the Imperial City etc.). In WB installers tab, the BC packages are showing up green for all Better Cities archives, and all files are installed (nothing being overwritten by another mod) - what gives? Where in the folders should I look to fix this?

I have Refscope as well, but it tells me it is from Better Cities Resources...

You didn't install the "Better Cities - Textures EV.bsa" which holds all the signs textures because they are names which can be translated in other languages if needed.

OVerall, this mod is working well on my machine, but when I am outside in the Imperial City (especially the marketplace district), Skingrad, The Waterfront, and a few other places, my frame rates drop drastically to an almost unplayable level. I do have the FPS patches installed, so what tips can I try to boost my framerates in these areas? Thanks.

PyFFI all meshes, including the vanilla ones which came with the game.
Avoid texture replacer mods.
Install the UOP, which includes some optimised meshes. Ensure you install the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27710.
Ensure no background programs are running when you launch the game.
Avoid using the highest in-game settings if your PC struggles with the game even without BC.
Install Streamline and set it up correctly.
Try not to upset the guards.
Disable the wine barrels and statues (see the in-game player note for console commands).
Re-quantify unplayable FPS levels.
Install http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23208 and set it up correctly.

I have the I HAVE NO GREETING bug with the Gold Horse courier guy in the Waterfront District.

Looks like there is a problem with the Delivery Jobs Updated mod that has been carried across when you added it to BBC. See the discussion tag http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33191.

I'm about to fire up the CS for the first time in a very long time to try out the fix given on that page.

I will look into the PyFFI process, which I haven't done before.
I am running QTP3, but was getting pretty good framerates in the city with it before Better Cities.
I am running Streamline and have it set to deliver a baseline of 20fps but that's definilty not happening when in the cities I mentioned.
I'll also try disablig the wine barrels and statues and I'll install the UOP update.

What do you mean by "re-quantify unplayable FPS levels"?

Quick question, is there any mods that add "hidden" entrances for better cities? I remember that was a mod that added them to the vanilla cities but used with Better cities it had numerous compatibility issues. I started work on my own version of this (finished with anvil, little tunnel that leads from a trap door in the cemetery to outside the city walls near the way shrine) and I just wanted to know if there is a similar mod with this function so I'm not wasting my time.

Invalid argument to CopyPlugin
File '33 CUO Bravil\Better Cities Full - CUO Bravil.esp' is not part of this plugin on

Is this a problem? It doesn't install the CUO Bravil Patch, but would it be fine if I installed the CUO Bravil Patch esp myself? Just wanting to clarify.

I am using version 1.2 of CUO Bravil and 4.6.1 of Better Cities.


Also another quick question, I see the you have a patch for CUO Bruma, but I cannot find CUO Bruma at all. I see that the main website that the mod was located at has removed its Oblivion download links, and that the poster has said they have moved all of its Oblivion mods to FilePlanet, however I have not been able to find the mod there either. Does anyone know of another link to download the mod from or maybe someone could give me access to a copy? Thanks : )

Zaldir informed me of the NO GREETING bug and I have fixed it in BC, but we haven't had a release since, so you'll need to wait (or impatiently edit it yourself).

I don't know of any specifically for Better Cities. TIE add secret entrances to each city which is compatible with BC. Otherwise you could try http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13651 or http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3830. I've never downloaded either, but they might be compatible.

Could be a mistake in the OMOD install script, assuming you created the OMODs directly from our archives and didn't unpack them first. A manual install of the ESP will work fine.

For CUO Bruma, it doesn't look like it is presently available anywhere anymore. You'll have to wait and see whether it gets added to FilePlanet or not.

Some gamers consider FPS less than 30 or 40 as unplayable FPS levels. The game can be played at 15fps, so if your view of unplayable FPS levels is unrealistically high, re-quantify your view of unplayable FPS levels to a lower, more realistic level such as 15 to 20fps.

Better Cities adds a large number of new objects into each city. When using QTP3 too, a large number of new objects equals a massive increase in high-quality textures being loaded along with them. Both Ismelda and I dropped QTP3 in favour of more game content, you could consider the same. Also, if you're using the original QTP3, switch to the redimised & further reduced version, which is slightly better optimised than the original and so should increase FPS slightly.

You mean that the bcf has to be edited on each new package?... Not convenient at all...

I agree. That's why I put off learning about them earlier this year. Most of the BCFs I have uploaded are for "finished" mods.

I understand what you are saying, and I agree. Basically, it's almost a slide show when I am walking around those cities. Very very choppy.

I will also look into using QTP3 redmized, as I not using that version.

The fix given on the DJ pagge isn't exactly right since you have obviously done a lot of work to integrate it into BBC, but after a little bit of head scratching I got
it working. :celebration:

I can post what I did on here but I'd hate to leave you trying to help people fix their BBC after taking my advice and breaking it so I'll only do it only if you're happy for me to do so.

What br0sk1 said, but only if what you consider unplayable FPS levels is unrealistically high. If your game is literally a slideshow, then you can skip this step as your FPS genuinely is unplayable.

First off, I just want to say that BC makes the cities worlds better, and I don't think I'll ever play Oblivion without this mod again. :)

Second, I have one...well, not problem, but point of curiosity. When I used the standalone bankmod, I remember being able to talk to some merchants in the outlying cities and withdraw gold from there. With the merged version, those topics don't appear. Since I'm using LAME and thus can teleport, it's not a huge deal, but I'm curious if they're supposed to be there and I'm missing them. I'm running version 4-6-1c
