[Relz] Bananasplit's Better Cities - Thread 37

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 3:55 am

It's a function of WBash. After rebuilding the patch the results are displayed as part of the bash log.
Content Checker:

? When activated, this will check the inventory contents of containers, creatures and NPCs, and the entries of leveled lists to make sure that their entries are of valid types. E.g. it will try to ensure that leveled spell lists only contain spells and other leveled lists.

? If items/entries of incorrect type are found, then they are removed from the container/list. The patch report will list any containers/lists modified and what was removed from them.

Better Imperial City.esp is part of BBC, right?
If you need anymore info, let me know. Maybe I should ask this in the WBash forum?

Yes, ask in the WBash forum, then when you know what it means you can come back and explain it more fully so that we'll understand what it's all about and how it relates to us :)
There are no levelled lists in "Better Imperial City.esp" and there is nothing in BC with an Editor ID beginning "cob", sounds more like it's from Cobl to me. Also, assuming those are Form IDs (minus the first two digits) that you're listing, none of those Form IDs exist in "Better Imperial City.esp" either, so it sounds very much like this Contents Checker thing isn't working right.

This is a repost (as suggested by Arthmoor) of a recent unresolved conflict that cropped up between All Natural and Better Cities. It is located in the Bruma Chapel of Talos.

http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/3785/anbadwindows.jpg

The above image illustrates the problem, some of the windows that are supposed to be transparent with All Natural are being reverted to non-transparent meshes by Better Cities. As I learned from running the windows through FormID Finder, AN's transparent windows function as a replacer (that is, the windows themselves are tied to Oblivion.ESM). The non-transparent windows, however, are tied to Better Cities Resources.ESM, and thus AN's replaced vanilla windows are being overwritten by BC's.

ThomasKaira: Can't this issue be resolved by installing AN after BC?

Installing AN after BC is not a workable configuration. BC loads too far down in the order for this to be useful.

Thomas Kaira,

I mentioned the same problem as you in the AN thread. For a quick-and-dirty fix I extracted the working meshes that were referenced in the Anvil cathedral (which I think are generic for cathedrals anyway) from the AN BSA, renamed them the same as those referenced in the Bruma chapel by BC (and re-dated them so they are newer than those in the BC BSA), and copied those meshes to the appropriate meshes directory in my Oblivion data folder. Worked a treat, so I'm happy with this as a solution unless the BC team feel that a patch or fix is possible.

PM me and I can send you a zip of the renamed meshes to save you the trouble if you'd like to try this method. BC team, if you don't want me to do this please let me know.

Cheers,

Straub666

Thanks for the tips, I'll try that out. Unfortunately, I found another slight something out of place in Bruma. Two floating archery targets (Castle courtyard practice area, behind the dummies):

So here I'am, on my white horse
I have just finished works on my mod http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30732#fileanchor, so

Could You, please, create a patch to your awesome mod Bananasplit's better cities for my mod Skingrad outer district? Because I'm not that skilled to make it myself, so I have to ask professionals

Or maybe You would want to incorporate my mode to BBC? ( Ok, taking too much chances here :liplick: )

Thanks

strange I try and look at your picture and I get something saying that the site has been flagged as an attack site. But if I go to the site through my bookmarks it works fine. I wonder if there is an issue with the pictures?

Whole Tesnexus has been flagged as an attack site, nothing to do with my mod or the pictures.
EDIT: Looks like the main page is not flagged, but every mod is, as I tried BBC, Enchanced weather, my mod and multiple others.
EDIT2: Check out this http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1117547-tes-nexus-infected/.

Alright, we'll look into resolving any conflicts soonish.

Not with any real seriousness, no.

There is now a compatibility patch for Skingrad Outer District and BC Skingrad available from the Nexus Better Cities page.

Finally got around to the Poll and read your comments. Although I like the option to pick and choose the cities as some do not appeal to me, there is a point at which any great project like this can't go forward without changing direction.

In my opinion, I would say release a final version of better cities as is now and begin a new better cities project with the great changes you are proposing, moving forward with quests and OBC. This way players have a choice of using the current BC for the things they want or changing to the new one. This is done in business in the real world all the time (remeber the new Coke? And then Coca Cola Classic?).

Or just move forward but make the BC classic available, maybe do some sparse support for some newer mods, or none at all.

Either way you go, it's a winner.

I just upgraded my copy of better cities up from 4.6.1c to 4.7.1 and it made me think about the quests you guys are adding to the game. I had done a couple of quests in the Gold horse courier before I upgraded and then because your supposed to do a clean save of Better cities in order to upgrade I lost all my progress and had to start again from the beginning, so I was wondering what are you guys going to be doing about those kind of problems in the future. (Other than that of course I absolutely love the mod and wouldnt even consider playing the game without)

We already dealt with that problem over a year ago. It hasn't been necessary to make a clean save between version updates for very long time (since we gave each ESP a fixed Form ID range which doesn't overlap with our other ESPs), and even on rare occasions when it might still be needed, we have tried to make it clear that the ESM should still be left enabled, only the ESPs disabled for the clean save.

Oh fair enough, I feel a bit stupid now for always doing a clean save between versions

Minor issue to report: Gottlesfont Blue cheese which is added by Better Cities Resources.esm is missing its inventory icon. The Construction Set points to Textures\Menus\Icons\MTCicons\iconcheese.dds however this texture appears to be missing from the BSA file.

Thanks. I created the texture for next release.

The texture for the Twin Goblet Alehouse sign (BC - Textures EV.bsa:textures\clutter\signtwingobletalehouse.dds) has a normal map for Northern Goods and Trade.

I can't seem to find the questgiver for the Gold Horse Courier. I've searched all over the Waterfront, but he's not there. I activated the quest to get the marker; it points south on my compass, but appears at the tunnel entrance on the map (both are green). If I go into the tunnel, the marker appears (again green) in dead space, somewhere north of the door that leads to the balcony. Where is this guy??

N/m... I'm stupid. I realized it was because I didn't have IC Waterfront installed. Oops.

On a side note: Do you think you could move it into the tunnel for better compatibility (i.e., mod conflicts or folks who use modular BC IC)?

I like it where it is, so it probably won't be moved. Here already is part of the reason we created the http://tinyurl.com/PollBBC.

Just a small thing I noticed. There is a piece of wood missing from the stairs outside of Riverside Housewares in Bravil. http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/2982/screenshot13u.jpg

I bet someone stole it!
