[Relz] Bananasplit's Better Cities - Thread 40

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:10 am

This has no doubt been asked umpteen thousand times and it's probably in the op. If it has/is then I apologise, I'm blind (not really).

Is this compatible with Open Cities Classic? If so are there any compatibility patches I need?

Thanks

Umm... really. Read the readme before Vorians (display name) comes along to smack you.

Better Cities has its own internal open cities option now, so it would be completely pointless for such a compatibility project to exist.

I'm definitely not using it so that's...weird. I'm certain this is from after my Better Cities days, but then perhaps it wasn't. Is it possible that the shack could still be sold to you if you are only using the Imperial City part of Better Cities. Otherwise, I'm stumped.

Yep, it's quite possible that the dialogue added to the vanilla NPC might appear if you have "Better Cities Resources.esm" installed, even without BC Bravil or BC Bravil B&M installed. I'll take a look just to confirm.

EDIT
Confirmed.

To clarify, With BC (B&M version) installed, there are 2 additional houses being sold in Bravil, apart from the vanilla house sold by the Count.

One is a beggar shack that a man in the inn outside Bravil sells me. This is between Anutwyll and Bravil. It is an open cell.

The other supposed riverside shack is what Nilawen sells me for 6000 septims, but I haven't seen it inside the city, outside the city near the main gate, or near the docks at the Niben gate.

PS: There is a house for sale at the docks, but has no key. Maybe the shack that Nilawen sells should be reassigned to that house for sale at the end of the docks?

I decided to check out IC Expanded tonight. I installed the resources only from the IC Expanded Web site, and then the replacer ICExpand.esp from the Better Cities archive.

FYI, it appears that the replacer plugin isn't clean, as there are some references that should be undeleted and disabled:

Undeleting: [REFR:0004A357] (places ICTombstone05 [STAT:00036018] in GRUP Cell Temporary Children of ICPalaceMQ1601 [CELL:0004A2AE] (in ICImperialPalaceMQ16 "Imperial City, Green Emperor Way" [WRLD:0004A250] at 6,14))Undeleting: [REFR:0004A301] (places ICTombstone06 [STAT:00036019] in GRUP Cell Temporary Children of ICPalaceMQ1601 [CELL:0004A2AE] (in ICImperialPalaceMQ16 "Imperial City, Green Emperor Way" [WRLD:0004A250] at 6,14))Undeleting: [REFR:0004A2EE] (places ICTombstone03 [STAT:00036009] in GRUP Cell Temporary Children of ICPalaceMQ1601 [CELL:0004A2AE] (in ICImperialPalaceMQ16 "Imperial City, Green Emperor Way" [WRLD:0004A250] at 6,14))Undeleting: [REFR:0004A42A] (places RockGreatForest165 [STAT:000250ED] in GRUP Cell Temporary Children of [CELL:0004A2AD] (in ICImperialPalaceMQ16 "Imperial City, Green Emperor Way" [WRLD:0004A250] at 6,15))Undeleting: [REFR:0004A429] (places RockGreatForest050 [STAT:000250C5] in GRUP Cell Temporary Children of [CELL:0004A2AD] (in ICImperialPalaceMQ16 "Imperial City, Green Emperor Way" [WRLD:0004A250] at 6,15))Undeleting: [REFR:0004A426] (places RockGreatForest050 [STAT:000250C5] in GRUP Cell Temporary Children of [CELL:0004A2AD] (in ICImperialPalaceMQ16 "Imperial City, Green Emperor Way" [WRLD:0004A250] at 6,15))Undeleting: [REFR:00037E5B] (places ICTombstone03 [STAT:00036009] in GRUP Cell Temporary Children of ICPalace05 [CELL:0001C29F] (in ICImperialPalace "Imperial City, Green Emperor Way" [WRLD:0002C10F] at 6,14))Undeleting: [REFR:00037DB8] (places ICTombstone06 [STAT:00036019] in GRUP Cell Temporary Children of ICPalace05 [CELL:0001C29F] (in ICImperialPalace "Imperial City, Green Emperor Way" [WRLD:0002C10F] at 6,14))Undeleting: [REFR:0003602E] (places ICTombstone05 [STAT:00036018] in GRUP Cell Temporary Children of ICPalace05 [CELL:0001C29F] (in ICImperialPalace "Imperial City, Green Emperor Way" [WRLD:0002C10F] at 6,14))

It's certainly easy enough to clean, but just mentioning it in case you want to clean it prior to your next release.

EDIT: Also, does the replacer package fix the bugs in AI Packages mentioned on the Nexus forum for the original IC Expanded? It looks like the packages have been altered somewhat so I'm guess you've fixed them but I just want to verify that.

Thanks those will be disabled in next release. I edited the AI packages I believed to be the possible cause of reported crashes with ICExpand, however since I have never used the mod myself, I cannot say whether I actually fixed the crashes because I've never experienced the crashes. Someone who knows how/when the crash occurs with the original mod would need to test and see whether the BC replacer ESP resolves the crashing or not. And if the crashes do still occur, I'd need some details as to exactly what triggers them before I could try to fix them. There are so many AI packages in this mod that it's impossible to know where to look when I'm not the original mod author.

The riverside shack is neither found at the docks nor inside the city, but suprisingly enough found near the riverside ;)

Writing from memory, but go out of the normal Bravil north gate, cross the channel and then head east towards the Nibenay river, and you'll fiind it a bit up from the river's west bank.

Based on the Nexus forum topics on this subject, it appears the issues were with two "find" AIPackages not having targets. The author suggested changing those from "find" to "travel" to fix the problem.

It looks like you touched the same specific packages and while they still have "find" packages they do have targets now, so I'm guessing you fixed it but if I see any issues I'll let you know.

Well, everything in the city is along the river... but thanks for the pointer. I vaguely recall a building where you mention. Next time I am in Bravil, I'll look for it. Interestingly, the only reason I was trying to find it was to add it the Useful Houses ini file for player-owned, to get the full benefits from homes. Thanks for the tip and your great mods :goodjob:

Yes, those were the only packages I could find which I thought might be the potential cause, as I know that Find packages without targets can cause problems (but not always as there are some vanilla Find packages with no target, as I recall). So I gave them targets and waited for people to mention crashes :)

Hello, Madamme Major.
A problem...
I decided to update my BC to the latest ersion and installed:
Better Cities Permanent Resources-16513 version 4..9.0
Core which brings
18 Better Cities .esp [Version 4.7.0]
Bravil- Mud and Blood
Shipyard default.

Better Cities Resources 4-9-6-16513-4-9-6
Core
Core English

Better Cities 4-9-7-16513-4-9-7
0F Better Cities Resources.esm [Version 4.9.5]
31 ClocksOfCyrodiil_BC_OBC_OC_OCLR_Vanilla.esp
73 00RBScribeSupplies02, read summary.esp
78 ICEXPAND.esp [Version 1.5BCE]
** Better Cities Full - B&M Edition.esp [Version 4.9.5]
C5 Better Cities - VWD of the IC.esp [Version 4.7.0]
** Better Imperial City.esp [Version 4.9.5]
** Better Cities - All Natural.esp [Version 4.9.5]
** Better Cities Full - B&M Edition Vwalk.esp
C6 Better Cities - Thievery.esp [Version 4.8.0]
** Better Imperial City Vwalk.esp
C7 Better Cities - The Lost Spires.esp [Version 4.9.5]
C8 Better Cities - Old Crow Inn.esp [Version 4.7.0]
C9 Better Cities - COBL.esp [Version 2.1]

Absolutely no difference from the esm/esp files that were in my game with the previous 4.9.2b version.

However...
All cities look like vanilla cities. Game is stable as rock, as usually but all BC goodies are gone...
Can't figure it on my own...
Any suggestions?
Already reinstalled 4.9.2b, all looks like BC.
Tried 4.9.7 - BC are gone...
Don't know what to do...

How do,

Great work! A question though. I can't see anything in the readme about installing over existing copies of Better Cities. I have v4.6 installed currently and I followed the omod installation procedure as detailed in the readme. Is installing the current version (4.9.7) as straightforward as deactivating the existing omod's? deleting the omod files and then installing the new version?

Thanks

Sounds like the ESM and/or ESPs have not been enabled. Do you have Blood & Mud installed? If not, then the BC Full B&M Edition ESP will not be working as it requires the B&M mod.
EDIT see what Vacuity said below.

Not from that version, no. You'll want to make a clean save before upgrading.
Make a new save in an unused save slot, then exit to desktop.
Disable all the BC ESPs (but leave the ESM enabled), then load the new save, and make another new save in another unused save slot, then exit to desktop.
Now deactivate the old OMODs, and exit OBMM.
Start OBMM again and activate the new OMODs.
Launch the game and load the latest save, and play on.

How do you expect Better Cities to change the cities when you've disabled the plugin?

Yes, but those stars mean they're being merged in. Which would only be possible with CBash enabled as the normal Bash wouldn't be capable of merging things with CELL and WRLD records.

Unless of course that's the result of doing an import that's gone wrong.

I wouldn't think so. Almost certainly the result of doing an import without activating it. CBash CAN import the entirety of the ESP for OOO though because of how every last record in it is injected into the ESM. But that should not be done for obvious reasons.

Hello, BC team,
A brief question:
I remember using ImpeReal Empire - Castles and remember your readme says it is integrated into BC. Correct?
How about ImpeReal Empire Forts?

The Castles are indeed integrated, and where necessary tweaked to fit changes from the vanilla castles in Better Cities. The Forts however are all outside and away from the cities, so are not integrated.
