Be a bandit.

Post » Fri Jul 22, 2011 10:51 pm

Well I was dissapointed that in Oblivion and Morrowind you could join a bandit or atleast rob people outside of cities. Although I doubt it I hope we could join a group of bandits and rob people. As bandits we attack caravans with goods, rob people. Kidnapped someone for ransom and more! What do you think?

Well, I'd assume that if you want to be a bandit, you'll have to do some freelancing ....

To whom it may concern.

We have captured a little Bosmer boy outside of your arena! We know he's one of yours and if you want him back alive you must pay us the grand sum of 1,000,000 septims.

Signed,
The Glass Bandits.

Yeah, I want this.

A bandit waylaids travelers and merchants. There isn't really any travelers (worth robbing) in oblivion and no traveling merchant at all.

I, for one, would like to see traveling merchants somewhat like in fallout 3 except they should have a long respawning time like a month if killed.

Theres one good news for the wannabe bandit. It is confirmed you can waylay shepards.

I wouldn't mind this! Sure, attacking Caravans in Fallout is fun(were there any in Oblivion?), I don't think there is any form of organized raids where you can loot active caravan highways.

its easy to be a bandit even in oblivion pick a traveler along the roads that looks like they may carry some good septims on them and kill them.

Not exactly what I'd want, but definitely something that should be possible in a "sandbox game".

It could be structured like a guild. Just a small one. :)
On that track, you could have a few bandit groups and have inter-bandit wars/politics. 'hay man your on our turf. you need to pay us to operated around here!" etc, etc.

Well this is a sandbox rpg. So all it takes to be a bandit is a little imagination. I don't need some lowly npc to tell me I'm a bandit. If I want to rob people on the road, then gosh darnit I will!!

Well I could do that but in both oblivion and morrowind very few travelled and the ones who do has nothing valueble. Atleast in modded oblivion I could be a bandit and I could use my imagination in fallout 3/New vegas. All beth has to do is put more merchants and travlers on the road and It will be good enough. However I would really apreceiate it if there is some joinalble band of bandits.

Why do you need to join someone to be a bandit? Just start killing people, and taking their stuff. Nuff said.

Best fun I ever had in Oblivion was adding myself to the bandits faction with a simple CS tweak.

just bring some bad guy friends with you and rob traveling merchants ( if beth add them) and rich travellers on the road maybe even take over a normal bandit camp.
that would be so much fun! :cookie:

Id doubt they added a mechanic for group banditry, but I imagine that it would be possible for them to do something along the lines of solo banditry. walk up talk, [demand] Money or your life! I hope that NPC's would react accordingly, that is that they all DONT instant attack you. how boring. Also it should be possible to be anonymous whilst doing it, wearing a mask or some such. However the mask could be knocked off. IF there were separate hidden stats for fame/infamy and holy/unholy this could produce some interesting results. Someone who has max fame but really is an unholy terror who finds his final judgement in the belly of some god dragon.
As a side note, MORE and DIFFERENT kinds of roaming NPC's More guards, merchants, bandits, farmers, milk maids :spotted owl: possibly troops moving if there is civil war, traveling performers, mendicant warriors (did i err?) . I think i saw maybe 2 guards in my playthrough of oblivion, both in the beginning.
