Bandits are more personal in Skyrim.

I agree. Along with what they say, all the bandit groups have a story to them. Much better than past games.

This was one of my favorite touches to find out about. Staying undetected in some of their hideouts, you can chance upon them having a conversation about some plans for a heist, or in one case, about the security of the location as opposed to finding someplace to set up shop.

I really need to sneak up to some bandits and listen to their dialogue then. I seldom ever give them much a chance to speak. Sometimes I may hear "Is someone there?", and like 1.2 seconds later their lying in a bloody heap.

Yeah, these games are getting too realistic, I feel better killing mindless drones than people with stories behind them. This is why I play as a warrior rather than a thief. Don't want to hear their conversations.

You are affected by the Uncanny Valley, it seems.

It is appealing to most people to see things that are realistic, however, at a certain point, the level of realism is almost perfect, but the appeal of it drops tremendously. It only rises back up to a high level appeal once the thing (a robot, the graphics of a game, etc) becomes indistinguishable from real life.

For those in the "it would take too long to name them all" camp, all the NPCs in Morrowind had names. :P

But you know those bandits probably have families waiting for them at the end of the day. Mrs Bandit is cooking dinner perhaps a pie, waiting for her husband to get home after a long day of standing on a wall. Little Timmy is waiting up late to share with his daddy what he learned that day. And Little Susie can't get to sleep until daddy reads her a bedtime story.
