Banks!

I would prefer credit unions. Barbarians use banks.

You should say that it reminds you of Daggerfall and the Elder Scrolls banking system.

And I don't mean a central bank.

I said no, because I don't want to have to spend half the game going back and forth between where I want to be and the bank, like I had to do in AC:B. No thanks.

What do you mean you don't imagine Skyrim as a place with banks?

Alaska has banks for crying out loud!

Listen friend, magnitude of your skill in comparing things is quite low. "Alaska has banks?"
It isn't that hard to portray a cold, harsh world of the Past and its inhabitants, brave hairy people that look as if they were made out of stone, would stand almost naked in front icy mountain and FIGHT DRAGONS!!! YES! DRAGONS!!! Their battle cry compares to a stormy wind. World wide know Warriors!
... and then they go to... a bank? :shakehead:
Traders is all right of course and is a must! But bank... to me it does ruins the feel of the adventure that world is trying to accomplish, trough its civilization (not level of one, but way of hierarchy in its things).
Hope I gave you some clues, then again it is my opinion and MY own.
ps. forgive my English if there were mistakes.

There's a bank in every town. Not just one bank somewhere. I don't think you'll have to go there all that often either, just when you have a lot to deposit or you need their services.

Yeah, but I still don't like it. I don't want to have to micromanage anything in this game. To me it takes away from the fun to have to do real life types of things like go to the bank, upkeep my house, etc.

I like the idea of a bank as a storage option, of sorts, I guess. Or another way to convert scavenged loot to cash. But getting loans, financing a house purchase or whatever? Seems like game make-work to me. There always seems to be plenty of other things to manage and track in these games, worrying about my line of credit with the Cyrodiil Savings & Loan doesn't seem like it would add to my enjoyment. :P

I would be interested in banks only if I could rob them. Like the Hlaalu treasury in Vivec. Make being a stealthy thief fun again! :ninja I would also be interested in building a property empire. That was one of the few fun parts of Fable II and III for me.

I think it would be a great addition, particularly if it had safe storage prior to buying a house. Plus it does seem a bit silly to being hauling around a huge amount of gold (hundreds of thousands of Septims) on your person. A "mortgage" system would be interesting as well.

Definitely. Having options the bank gives you makes it all worth it.

Again, Skyrim is not like Solstheim. It is old, powerful, and fairly wealthy. Banks make sense. (See link in sig, check the economy section of the page).

Considering Daggerfall wasn't an MMORPG, we have an example of good implentation of banking in a single-player RPG to contrast.

Yes, making gold weigh something is a great idea. But more like add a decimal place...so each gold would weigh .01

I like the realism...

Besides, at some point in Morrowind and Oblivion gold became as useful as clutter in Oblivion. So maybe this, along with some other gold sinks, could help fix that.

And maybe if they somehow fix the economy a bit, loans could be useful!
I like the option at least...

Yes and overhaul the money system. The debased septim could be the lowest value with silver and gold. (look at Dragon Age). 100 septims = 1 silver,
100 silver =1 gold Dragon. Forget vouchers as in Daggerfall.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Way to MMOish. Also, I definitely want letters of credit. Makes much more sense than hauling hundreds of pounds of gold around with you.

How does that have anything to do with MMO's? Having coins of different values makes it much easier to separate the values of cheap and expensive items for a more realistic economy.
