The reason for the Naming and Shaming rule is to prevent harming innocent users, reduce "hacker paranoia", and to avoid drawn-out arguments in the forums. ....Unfortunately, a publicly posted server ban list is mass Naming and Shaming "just a click away." We all know what will happen to this thread when someone on the list comes forward to strenuously object
The other problem is what can happen when distributing the list is successful. A user banned on my server just for being a total jerk one day might suddenly find himself banned all over the place the next. Its hard to get off of a ban list once you are on one. This has happened in already in C2's history.
I actually think this post is commendable, and have strongly considered trying to organize some kind of centralized banlist distribution. In the end, though, ban lists are just too subjective.
For the purposes of this forum, and with regrets, I am locking this thread.
