I haven't seen hackers but I've seen quite a few level 48-50's.

Yea, I've seen tons of 50's out there. They could just not cheat now and hang out at top level and own everyone with maxed stats/gear now, at least until most of us catch up.

"To avoid this in future you should use a default install of Crysis 2."

... I have a autoexec.cfg ... but the only thing I wrote in it, is the "skipintro" comand!

Would that be enough for a ban, or is that ok?
The Anti Cheat only checks multiplayer related CVARS, so yes, that is perfectly fine.

The Valve system will work in the sense that it bans the entire person account once theyve been caught, but the downside is that it is very inefficient at catching hackers

It's OKAY at catching hackers. Moreso than punkbuster. The issue is, it bans in waves. You are flagged and then banned at a later date.

Yea you are banned at a later date, but that really doesnt matter much as it still means hes banned. It just takes awhile for it to process for some reason.

Punkbusters is a pain in my butt. Ive always had problems with the hardware. Either PnkBstrkA/B.exe will never load up and i will be unable to play in PB enabled servers due to getting kicked by PB. Either way the best anti-cheat system is to have dedicated servers that has admins/rcon users in them to patrol and keep them clean

edit: dont get me wrong though, they do need to beef up their security

This method of banning for 1hr is fine if it instantly detects that you're trying to gain an unfair advantage, as long as the anti-cheat does it instantly and isn't a "delayed" ban. I don't see the issue.

Punkbuster is actually better at catching hackers than VACS. There isn't a perfect anti-cheat system out there, but punkbuster comes out top in my books, just play some CoD4 on a decent server.

Would u rather have your config tweaked a little and get banned for a month first offense versus an hour because of it? Even if you thought u weren't cheating???? I think the one hour is good because repeat offenses get banned forever. Stop finding/manufacturing things to complain about. Good job crytek at taking the anitiative to remove cheaters from crysis 2. I applaud your efforts.

I love how people think PunkBuster and VAC are inefficient when they don't fully understand how either one works.

They detect hacks silently so Valve/EvenBalance can collect data from them, and implement fixes at later dates. As someone stated correctly, bans come in waves every X months. Silent detection is far superior for the reason stated above, not flashing and screaming in your face does not mean it doesn't work.

I used to be an admin for a Battlefield 2 server running Punkbuster, PB does a lot more for server admins. It takes screenshots of the players screen so you can see whats going on. It's incredible how many paid-for hacks don't even blank out the players screen.

I definitely think PB should be implemented; PB + PunkBusted.

Like I said I've seen cheaters in game still and staying connected between matches so it is NOT instantly banning them.

What makes this 1 hour thing hilarious is lets say they get banned at night when they're sleeping. They can wake up and never even know they were banned. Or banned whie they're at school or work. Or banned while they're taking a massive dump, getting laid, eating dinner, etc. It's very possible it could have absolutely 0 effect.

It's lame.

In some cases, the exploits can be closed though. There will always be hackers, but silent detection and data collection are the only way of seeing what is being exploited.

To be fair, the best anti-cheat system is Player Admins, small player counts make that difficult obviously. Back to my BF2 example - 64 player servers are actually easy to admin, as you can have 4-5 admins playing from different timezones who all have access to the screenshots.

Yea, i said as well that the best policed servers are through admins/rcon users. Although there is room for human error as well like when the DCOM server banned me yesterday >.<

Punkbuster only checks headers. Sorry. Headers are super easy to spoof and change.

I have RCON on my server, but whenever I kick someone from in game, it crashes the server :(

I've been level 50 for a few days and I don't and have never hacked, so don't just assume every 50 is hacking...

However, I'd say that 90% of them are. Lol... Sadface...

Thank you MJCNE, i didnt think that Crytek knew about that problem. Im sure if you make a thread about it that it will get their attention...

Seriously, they said the security updates will happen one step at a time. I dont see how people dont understand that

-fuzz

Yeah...guess most people are still in shock that a game they paid $60 bucks has no type of anti-cheat system...or the lack of any kind of protection to reduce the attack surface of the game (edit with notepad and done!). Or at least making MP data and such server based so they could I don't know..check its data vs what is on the client machine is reporting using such things like files with checksums and hashing...I dunno. Or preventing the ability for randomly generated serial numbers being used to access official servers (sounds like their number generating scheme was discoverd..thats what happens when you cut corners). Kind of silly of them to expect some sort of administration ability to kick hackers from a server...hah! Silly people expecting such things for a measly $60 bucks for, pfft! Guess they should just be gratful for being able to PAY Crytek for the privilage of playing their beta! Right fuzz?

Crysis 2 cheat protection is a **** joke. Whatever security updates Crytek has applied are a miserable failure. There are still plenty of level 50, aimbot, one-shot from aross map douchebags playing on the servers. Everything about this game is going quickly downhill. I fear that with Cryek's terrible update/patch history, that Crysis 2 will die out quickly and lose whatever fanbase it has left. **** YOU TOO CRYTEK!

A lot of video games are essentially BETAs when they come out now. Everyone knows the issues already. Get over it & be patient or stop playing.
