Banshee

Post » Wed May 25, 2011 10:26 am

First off, a http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_LzraPDX-fbk/TMadVSTRxRI/AAAAAAAAAA0/sBnG4QcLC0c/s1600/banshee.jpg is a feminin spirit from the Irish folklore. They're seen upon as bringers of death or omen from the Otherworld. They scream as they did before they died. /edit/ http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/89/Banshee.jpg (another example)

They are supposed to wear black clothing and are ghostlike in shape and how they move.

I think they would fit great in Skyrim because they are scare AND they give a freaky atmosphere, which I think fits the Skyrim scheme very well. Also - it's Irish :).

Vote - yes! (hope the devs'll see this one, ay!)

I think they've got enough undead monsters. Might be cool, but doubt it'll make it into the game.

I feel that Banshee's would be more suitable in High Rock. With the Breton's Celtic influence and all that.

Well Oblivion had will-o'-the-wisp what seems to have mainly come from the UK and Ireland! So it could work, I just hope they don't scream too loudly that I have to turn the volume down as to avoid annoying other people in the house as other games have done with Banshee before.

Variation is always good, and I think Beth can learn from that.

I like the idea. Just make them pretty much the opposite of the ones in fable and they will be perfect :P

The one in the picture is dressed in white, and I don't see why not have them.

Maybe a contrast, I don't know. I just used it as an example.

It still makes sense, white is for death in some cultures.

If you look at the concept art there are banshees. I think they are all ready in the game.

I don't care.

There are always a nice variety of monster types in TES, I could really care less if Banshees specifically make an appearance in the game.

I don't really care too much, but if it's in, I hope Bethesda uses them in a cool way, putting their own kinda spin on it.

Are we sure it's a banshee, though? It's not labeled a banshee, actually, it's not labeled at all, so it doesn't really tell us anything. While it looks similar to the banshee pictures posted in this thread, that's an image I could also see being something else, it's not like a harpy or minotaur or something where you see it and can pretty much see what it is. Certainly, it could be a banshee, but we can't be sure.

As far as banshees being in Skyrim, I don't think they'd be out of place in the game, but at the same time, there's many other monsters I could say the same about, and I don't think it would be feasible for Bethesda to add every monster you could possibly think of that fits Skyrim, so if banshees are in the game, than they're in the game, if they're not, than they're not, I won't mind too much either way.

Only if they have a bloodcurling scream, that you hear at random moments in the game at nighttime.
