Barbada Island Mod (BETA)

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 12:26 pm

Man this mod is looking great. I haven't actually played it yet but I have it ready for next time I play.

I'm curious though. Have you uploaded it to TES Nexus yet? It would certainly get you more downloads than having it only one site.

It is actually quite good. :goodjob: I spent a few hours running around, doing the quest, and just exploring & talking to all the NPCs.
If you haven't tried it yet, you should. I think this will end up being a pretty fantastic mod when it gets finished. Barbada Island is also very pretty, scenically. I love the way the town is built & looks.

I agree with Uglulyx, you should put it up on TesNexus too- you'll get quite a bit more exposure that way.
Can't wait until the next release!

Thanks Uglulyx & shadow98fl!

I'm really glad that you like it! I will put it on Tesnexus as soon as possible (when i am on a computer with the mod :P)
One of the most important things in the mod is ofcourse the city and its style so I can't tell you how important it is for us that you like the city's style Shadow98fl!

- Update -

We're going to make a new release, a small one though, but it increase the fps in the market at day and night so you should not meet the same amount of lag when you're in the city.
We are also going to add some objects to make the city more pirate like.

We already started working on the mainquest and some sidequest but they will not be included in the next release

Hope you stay tuned for the next update :D

Ok so I gave this a try and I immediately noticed a problem with the travel sequence. People using sleep and/or hunger mods will have trouble. Mostly because of how you did it by setting up the timescale. What also concerns me is if after this sequence how do you set back the timescale? Many people use a slower timescale that the vanilla 30 so you'd have to get what it was before and then set it back to that value afterwards.

If you can't find a workaround to this hunger/sleep mod issue you should at least give the option to not have the travel sequence.

Okay for the Traveling Sequence i use playersleep function (or whatever its called) so people with sleep mods wont have a problem because the player actually sleeps the entire time, as for the eating mods i dont know if sleeping time affects them. Please let me know if it does.
Last, if people is using timescale mods, to make their days longer, then perhaps the playersleep function also affected so they would still sleep in the correct amount of time.

The hunger mod I use is 1 unit of food per hour even while sleeping. Which comes to a nice overall daily balance. But with the mod I use for hunger it also seemed to wake me up from too much hunger so I ended up getting sleep deprivation as well.

hmm that is strange. beacuse the script is made so that if you are not sleeping anymore then you should get to the next marker so the only thing (as i see) is the problem is the hunger mod. Don't know if i'm wrong?

Quite odd. And I don't think any hunger mods are still being supported by the authors so it'll be hard to get help with it.

No I haven't gotten there yet. Later I'll redownload and just turn of hunger and sleep while I travel.

I'm back! :D

The mod has received a lot of positive comments, for that i am very thankful :D hehe

Now that I'm back that means i can start work again i have a lot of things in mind

I'm probably going to redo the loading screens when i get a comment on them from rebel, i have a way to make them look more like the original ;)
going to re-texture some stuff like Pirates ships Sail
maybe going to add a mesh where the sails are unfolded to make the traveling sequence more realistic ;)
going to add a possibility to skip the travel sequence ( some folks a complaining about this so I'm doing it because of them)
and going to continue the work on the main quest and side quests

The next release is probably going to take a while to make, due two things
1. I'm starting in the danish kind of college, which will take a lot of my time
&
2. I have 2 other projects in mind that i would like to make. The first is going to be a "Modders Resource" with a new style of houses (don't want to tell what kind :P), mostly because i want to improve my 3d and Texture skills
The second project is going to be fore more comic reasons, just going to add a small feature that i find quite fun.

We would really appreciate more comments on Barbada Island to hear what you think could improve the mod

I have a big incompatibility with this mod... although it looks good and not quite game-breaking... unfortunately I'm not sure which mod adds a big broken tower out front of Anvil, but basically half the ship is covered by this. The captain was inside a rock so I had to "tcl" to talk to him.

If I get some time I'll try and figure out which mod it is that added it, but my guess is Better Cities, The Lost Spires, or possibly the Ayleid Steps... I'll give it a try though.

I think it's Better Cities... because they have included Anvil Bay Expansion....

Edit: Yes, it's better cities.

The main culprit is the inclusion of this mod, Anvil Bay Expansion:

VERY large incompatibility with this mod. If you were to patch it, I think you would need to move the dock farther north... or at the very least, push the dock and boat closer to shore... perhaps set the dock on the other side of the boat as well.

A thank you for letting me know :D
I will try to find a workaround to it, but i think its going to be difficult to move it up north due to the compatibility with Unique Landscapes: Lost Coast

Once more thank you for telling me this :D

I'm not sure how edits/patches are made, but would you be able to just make a separate .esp patch for it that moves it if you are using Better Cities? If not, it's not a huge deal... as the main part of this mod is on another island anyways. The boat is just the entrance there.

I know how i could fix it, but as you say the dock in Anvil is not really a huge part, so we will probably first make a patch when the main release gets out :D

Btw what do you think of the rest of the mod?

Well I've since removed Better Cities, because I was getting stops and stutters in gameplay... along with QTP3:R. To be honest I started the trip, but for some reason as soon as the scene started out at sea, I became over encumbered, fell, and the game crashed, lol. I haven't tried it since. But since BC is off, I'll load it up again and give it a try. Definitely looking forward to a pirate island.

Well I tried to go to the island again... I found another incompatibility, sorry to say. I use Cobl along with Real Hunger, so my character has to eat every day. Also Real Sleep Extended, so he has to sleep. If not, he gets decreased stats. So as you can imagine, since there is a forced wait of a couple days on the boat... by the time I was finished the trip, I had -50's in most skills and -850 sneak skill... so I'm trying to disable them for the big trip. Unfortunately I'm not getting CTD's when pulling the lever or waiting/sleeping.

Edit: Okay, disabling both RH and RSE made it okay. I'm on my way to Barbada Island!

Edit2: I see you already discussed the Hunger and Sleep mods, nevermind... although now I was able win the battle, but nothing gets triggered... I tried going in the ocean, sleeping for 2 days, talking to the Captain and Will... nothing is working.
