Barbers and ect...

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:49 am

pretty much like the questions state do you think there should be a barber and a way to change your character's apearance (not his/her race). something like in fallout.

idk if it fits in with the lore of TES. sorry if it doesnt

I don't see why you couldn't do yes for hair and face.

Surely there is magic capable of morphing a character into an animal or some other form, therefore it should be able to alter your apperance. They should just make the process really expensive to prevent you from doing it a whole lot.

ha, err, yeah, hair, fine, anyone can do that.
as for modifying face, maybe if they could implement a system to let you modify it in the first half hour of gameplay or something incase it looks weird in the real world, but not consistantly throughout the entire game.

Maybe, but I'm sure people you are around on a daily basis would question you having a different face every day.

I think the point of elder scrolls games is to try and make you stick with your decisions and be confident with your decisions, plus changing your whole face, (for me anyways) would take a lot of immersion out of the game for me. I think your decisions should mostly be final and you have to deal with the consequences or (maybe later) the benefits.

Instead of just making it a basic appearance change they could include consequences for changing your face, such as loosing fame as people no longer recognise you. Also if say you were an evil character it would be a way of 'starting a new' and avoiding being hunted for your previous crimes.

There has always been ways to get your fame above your infamy, and this face change stuff could just be an easy way out for most people. I had a char. in oblivion and had to work really hard to get my fame up, and when i did it brought a feeling of self satisfaction along with it. Not just changing a face and using that as an easy way out.

Voted, yes and no, but now that I think of it, maybe second option could be drawing tattoos like in Fable? Then, sure why not!

For myself, the preference would be for there to be barber/salon shops in certain towns. Milady does like to change style now and then, and the gentlemen may need to adjust beards, etc.

Borrowing from the Vikings, grooming aids were readily available, especially for hair and beards, to include dye and even some make-up. It is not unrealistic to believe that Nirn could easily have the same.

However, the concept of plastic surgery is not appealing for my game play. If others want this, though I would not oppose it.

Edit: Oh yes, the vote. Yes and no, of course.

This gives me an idea for a service in the world: Cosmetic illusion mages. Mages who use some illusion touches to enhance the beauty of their clients for parties or whatever. You know the ladies want to look hot for the ball, and the dudes will want to seem like they're good dancers. Throw some magic at those problems.

I remember that you had to be a female to do a certain quest, that was years ago though
when that happened though I didnt have enough money to turn back someone asked if I wanted to be their gf

One of the many reasons I regret playing MMOs.

Barbers and facial appearance wouldn't be appropriate for the atmosphere of Skyrim. The only "change" I would want to see are scars and bruises from tough bouts fighting draugrs, dragons, etc.
