Bard Bug?

Post » Mon May 27, 2013 6:19 pm

I built Heljarchen Hall and it is complete. I also have a Housecarl from the Jarl and I made Lydia my Steward. I am pretty sure I asked Lydia to get me a bard a long time ago. She doesn't have the option to get one anymore. However I don't have a bard. It's been about a month game time and no bard. The wiki said something about a bug where the bard never shows up.

Is there a way to check this or fix this? I really want to just complete this house and the bard is the only thing I lack. I'm on the PC so any console commands or whatever would be helpful.

The bard is supposed to be Oriella. If anyone knows the console command to go to her, or add her to the house that would be great. I fear she got lost along the way.

Thanks!

Game thinks you brought too many chickens (its a bug), when you buy the chickens, the option to get a bard can just vanish, which might be why you thought you had asked. Kill the cow and the options will come back up, the option to get a bard should re-appear with the cow option.

Well dag-nabit that didn't work. I killed the cow (steaks were great by the way) and then ran to Lydia. She had the option to buy the cow, but that's it.

Note I also don't have any chickens. A giant got them stuck between his toes when stomping around the place a while back. So I have no option to buy chickens or a bard. Dang it.

I also tried the player.moveto xx019633 to find the bard, but it said no reference. :(

EDIT: Got it. I had to turn off the unofficial Hearthfire patch, then kill the cow, then talk to Lydia, and the option was there. Still no chickens though.

You do not need to buy any chickens, they are classed as a house item once you buy them and will respawn along with everything else the house came with if you are absent from the property for 10 days. So either you are going to be without chickens, absent a lot, or getting real fast at protecting chickens. Two of my characters have a lot of attacks, so I found it challenging to keep them alive. Although I consider the game dropping my Heljarchen Hall cow from the sky to its death to be unfair. I brought another after collecting the steaks and will be returning to see if that happens again.

Sorry, I had not realised that unofficial Hearthfire patch prevented the bard option returning, strange thing for it to do. I play the console versions, so only get the bugs that come with the game, not the extra ones.
