Barnett as a Shotgun

Post » Sun Jun 27, 2010 4:56 am

Hey before you start flaming me for thinking the barnett is a shotgun, i know its a Light rifle.

Of course we won't know till it comes out, but do you think the barnett could be used (effectively) as a kind of "shotgun".

Also, would it pair up better, with a sub-machine gun, or and Assault rifle?

Thanks in advance.

i think the hip fire on it is crazy inaccurate, so the shotty thing wouldnt exactly work, and id say itd go better with an smg since the long rifles are for long range, youd need a close quarters gun to compliment

Bad, bad, bad, bad idea. People stay in groups, and I've seen the fire rate on that thing.
2-3 shots to kill an enemy + close range to several enemies + incredibly slow fire rate = your brain all over the floor.

its a 2 shot kill almost all of the time, and you can always pick a few off then switch to the smg and get in close

I think that, if you want to use either light rifle for other purposes, it would make a decent strategy when things take a turn for the worse. But I wouldn't have it as your main strategy. Also, i think the Drognav would be better suited to CQC purposes than the Barnett, it will be more forgiving if you miss.

No.1 - it's a 'Barrett'
No.2 - it has a painfully slow rechamber time (over 2 seconds!)
No.3 - it deals only 125hp of damage (enough only to kill a light (120hp) but not a medium or heavy (140hp, and 180hp respectively)

It's a Barnett.

And if you want shogtun, go Drognav. Not as strong, but the fire rate is actually manageable.

No, its Barnett, we got "Barrett" from Cinna, who appearantly didn't look too closely at the name, an easy mistake to make. He was expecting to see "Barrett", so he did.

Most lights will have some form of buff or another, so it will be a two hit kill on pretty much anyone that hasnt been hurt.

You are right about the time it takes to work the bolt though, which is why i suggest the Drognav for CQC, its a 3 shot on a buffed medium or heavy, but the .3s RoF will be a lot more useful.

It's called a Barnett in the game, do you really think everyone who posted made the same typo?

Question about the Hjammerdiem Shotgun, you know, that shotgun that is actually a shotgun?
Is it heavy-size only?

Yes, but the Mossington is a medium.

I think it would be more reasonible to think of it as a kind of bolt action rifle :P

But seriously, it's more comparable to things like the Kar98, Mosin-Nagant, etc. from various WW2 shooters, which can be used at close or long range but suffer from long firing times and lower ammo capacity.

Stick with using SMG's as a CQC weapon. Easier to keep your target in the middle of the screen when your weapon's muzzle-rise doesn't cover them up.

I agree. Not only does it due 80 damage ever .3 seconds compared to 125 damage every 2.35 (I know its like 2. something) seconds (which means Dragnov does more damage over time) but the Dragnov has a rapid fire attachment possibility that increases recoil so.......yeah.

I think hes asking because he is looking for a light replacement for the shotgun without going for the obvious answer....an SMG.

I was just asking as a "what if" question, and i didn't mean using it as a primary wep as its not effective in the least at CQC.

i meant as like a finisher if the targets health is in killing range, and never to shoot it twice in a row, as that'll probably get u killed.

It would work wonderfully, as long as you didnt miss and it didnt get you killed by his teammates. Its just a very high risk way to play.

If you're a Light, or a Medium wanting a secondary shotgun substitute, you could to worse than an unscoped Light Rifle.

As mentioned, the Drognav's probably a safer option than the Barnett.
