Barren Competitive Games?

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 9:47 pm

Hey all, Shadows here. So I've been playing Brink since it's release and I'm avid fan of the game, and play for about 2-3 hours a day. Recently (as if a couple of days ago) competitive lobbies have been running dry. And by dry I mean the game puts me into barren 10 player competitive games with no one but my ol' self. I've tried backing out and restarting the game search many times, but this is the common result--just me in a game by myself. Now, it seems silly to think that there's NO ONE else already playing before I fire up the Xbox. Any one else experiencing this odd phenomenon?

Just for added info, my internet works fine. I can connect to friends' games just fine and play. Also, I'm on the Xbox 360.

Wondering if it's something to do with NAT issues? That or selecting a map etc. is too limiting.

I mean, I end up in a few barren games myself but every time I join a match (without being too specific) I end up in a game with at least 2/3 humans, never on my own.

I think everyone is starting to stick with bigteam and standard because after maybe 2 tries i can find a full room in both.

yes i have also had the same problem trying to get teams full of human players on the xbox. but you do tend to get more players on the evenings than during the day. but that said i played some games last night and i was the only real player on some of the game modes. i have also experienced having a full team of 5 human players on 5 v 5 matches and then when one map finished and the next one started all my team are still there but the opposite team have completely disappeared. and because of the game mode you dont even get bots filling the spaces in the other team so we all completed the map in about 5 mins because nobody was there to stop us on the other team. its a very strange experience.

its not just you, its just that there are so few people playing in general. like one of the previous posters mentioned try big teams or standard.

It sux that we are forced to play with bots now. even if its just one bot in the game for a short while. it pisses me off, id rather play man down than have a bot on my team.

I haven't managed to start a game under competitive settings yet. Had a good time last night when someone joined my room, we chased each other around the Aquarium in warm up mode. Actually had more fun than I expected, playing it purely for the laughs (no objectives in warm up obviously).

Usually after a few attempts and the waiting that goes with it I give up and just go with standard or big teams settings.

Same for me on PSN. I can't seem to find any games at all. I started a few times and even went as far as running around for a few minutes to get to know the map, but since certain areas are closed off before the game starts, that is only of limited use.
