BASH doors open

Post » Tue Oct 04, 2011 3:20 pm

Non-thiefs should be able to bash doors open, weather by muscle, or spell. If not all doors at least alot of them. This is my 20th idea in my thread - http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1233347-tes-v-skyrim-new-things-that-should-be-imo-2/

What thinketh you?

It is something I definitely wouldn't mind seeing return. If not, I recall there being a mod for this in Oblivion.

Of course, it should at the very least draw a lot of attention to you from a pretty far range (due to the sound). A few HALTS here or there wouldn't hurt either.

Kinda ruins the point of the lockpicking skill, don't you think?

And if it should be like that, you should only be able to do it if you have a high enough skill in either one handed or two handed. Let's say lvl 75 for lvl 50 lockpicks and lvl 100 for lvl 75 lockpicks. This way, you won't be able to open master locked chest or doors with pure power, and it also requires more skill to bash down a door, than lockpickking it. Then the point of lockpicking isn't totally vanished.

Anyhow, im better off with how it is actually :)

Or they could just have another option. Anyone who does not want to use the bash door option like a thief character, can turn it off before they begin their game.

Well, yeah, i see your point ofc. If you were a strong warrior, then you should be able to bash down some wooden doors, no matter if it is a difficult lock. I, on the other hand, don't like it, even though im planning to make a Warrior character as my 1st. I just think it unbalances it a bit :)

In a way maybe.

I would do somthing like this, the door lock is lvl 25, so you will need 100 strength to bash it down. Except...there is no TES stats anymore...nvm carry on.

WRONG!!!

the elder scrolls had door-bashing abilities in the past, i've seen videos of people bashing doors open in daggerfall, i cant remember if it was in arena, though, but i wouldnt be surprised if it was in that game, as well.

A good idea, no reason for this not to be a option instead of just lock picking.

You are also talking to someone who has NEVER played a pre morrowind game...
I dont find the need/ want to really, even OB / Fallout is becoming more and more mundane as Skyrim is closer to release.
