[Help] 'Bashed Patch' section on Fcom's homepage is '404 Not

Post » Tue Nov 29, 2011 6:51 pm

Hi.

I'm nowhere near an experiance moder.
So I've been using Tomlongs guide to install FCOM http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/fcomguide/
Now I'm on the step involving the Bashed Patch http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/fcomguide/finishfcominstall

Down at Rebuild the Bashed Patch
The guide says:
Check plugins in the appropriate sections. (See the reference linked above and mod ReadMes.)
>> notes: FCOM users should follow the FCOM-specific section for proper settings.
Click OK

And here is the problem. The FCOM site's 'Bashed Patch' section is '404 Not Found'
http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/convergence.html
"Bashed Patch"( http://wrye.ufrealms.net/Wrye%20Bash.html#BashedPatch )

What do I do now?
I'm very grateful for any help. I've asked this in Tomlongs thread aswell http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1093212-tesivpositive-installation-guides/page__pid__15962536__st__20&#entry15962536
But I think this issue is not just for those who uses his guide so I might be good to make a new thread about it. No?

I don't know if this helps but here is my 'Load Order' from the 'Mod' tab in Wrye Bash.

Ooops, forgot about that line. Just use the general bashed patch page. All of the FCOM specifics are mentioned there.

Edit: Also not that the first post of the FCOM thread now has all of the FCOM-specific tags listed at the bottom.

Edit: BOSS has sorted your load order properly. Rest assured, that SL has been around long before BOSS was created. In fact, you do not have one "new" mod in your load order. BOSS knows where to put all of those, for sure. It also seems that you did not read the part about leaving mergeable and import-only plugins deactivated. Correct that as well.

Edit: In the future, there is no reason to make a separate thread about questions relevant to that guide, especially not a specific question such as this.

Streamline is supposed to be after bashed patch, so that's fine. Not sure about FormID finder, but I guess so. Donno about the other.

There are some exceptions to the "bashed patch loads last" rule.

How do I know which is mergeable and which is import-only plugins?
I've checked the BOSSlog.txt but I see no indication that any mod is import or mergeable.
And I've unchecked all Green Text mods. I did not have any italic or purple text. I did have blue text, maybe its the 'purple text' you're referring to?

Could you link to where I missed that part. I'm sure I read everything on http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/fcomguide/finishfcominstall

FormID Finder as well as some other script modules load after it too. There are actually quite a few other types of exceptions, not shown by this load order, but you can see an exhaustive list by looking at the online masterlist if you want... That load order is perfectly fine, excepting the lack of certain pseudo-active plugins.

I did not take into account that you had not yet rebuilt your bashed patch. The LO you posted is definitely incomplete. I was almost unsure of whether or not you had finished installing FCOM. Once you rebuild the bashed patch, the meregeable plugins will show in your LO. Everything is probably fine then. That assumption was a mistake on my part, no worries. You're fine. Re-post your LO after rebuilding your bashed patch. Did you find the FCOM specifics on that page without a problem? Only exceptions are mentioned, everything else is "bash as normal" I guess...

You can remove this has its features are part of OOO itself.

Yes I think, if this is what you mean: http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/finishinstall/bashedpatch
"bash as normal" is to check right?

I just got a question about the Tweak section, I think it may be just my english that is the fault of it.
Could you rephrase this sentence? "==Bashed Patch Tweaks== <-- Turning these on is up to you, and using these as opposed to their equivalent plugins is recommended."
I'm having a hard time understanding what exactly it means 8)
General about the tweaks, why should I not activate them? Since its "up to you".

Is it just to 'right-click' then File - > Delete on the 'OMOBS Optional Combat Settings.esp' to remove it?
Where do I find the Loth Patch?
In my FCOM_Convergence_Beta_9dot9.7z - > FCOM Optional Add-Ons.
I only got: FCOM_LothsBluntWeapons.esp

And whats that about "min fcom setup"? Don't I have it all? Am I missing out on something?

yes right click file delete

fcom_lothbluntweapons.esp is what you use that is correct

there is nothing wrong with your load order once again..when I mean Min it meant Minimal Mods being used. Has some fcom load order have all the addon in play. And well that could be 200 plus mods etc..Once all said and done easily...

Fcom_lothbluntweapons.esp is in Green text in Wrye Bash, that's why its not checked.
Okey, thanks :)

You're right. What I meant to say was that I was expecting to see some mergeable plugins, those that the OP mentioned he had left deactivated, and they were not shown because the bashed patch had not been rebuilt yet. I should have been clearer about that.

http://wryebash.netai.net/#BashedPatches now. If we could update the FCOM Homepage we would. Also note that you can easily access the same readme via the question mark icon in Wrye Bash itself.

By "bash as normal," I meant that outside of the exceptions mentioned, you can check FCOM plugins in their respective places in the Bashed Patch dialog as you would any other plugins. "Safe" means it can be checked, and so on...

I added that comment to the tweaks section because some user was confused about whether or not those were safe, since I did not put a "safe" tag on them. The reason why I refrained from doing that is because using any of those is optional. Therefore, you can activate any of those that you want. I put comments next to them if there are issues to look out for, and I need to add a comment about that Redgaurd tweak too... I will just go ahead and separate those two sections to make things clearer. I will put a different into up for the tweaks section.

Your setup is not the Basic FCOM Load Order. We cannot see some of your options yet because they are inactive and not yet merged, I think... Did I write a script for that OMOBS package? I will do that then...

Edit: If the Loth's patch is the only plugin you have to merge, then you really are basically running the Basic FCOM Load Order. If you want to know what that is, follow the link on the first page of the guide on my site or the on on the FCOM home site.

No. The BOSS tags may have been updated such that it no longer appears there, I am not sure. However, remember that that is a guide. Many users will not have every plugin mentioned. If an exception is not applicable to your setup, ignore it. If the OOO ESM does not appear there, then it is not being integrated into that section, and that is all that matters.

Edit: I cannot take paragraphs to write out a full explanation for every exception on the pages on that site. Different users have different versions of mods, Wrye Bash, BOSS and the BOSS masterlist. It is practically impossible for me to account for every variation.

Okey I've built my Bashed Patch.
I have a few questions - Suprised?

Here: http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/fcomguide/finishfcominstall
Go back through your load order and uncheck plugins that should not be activated (purple and green text.)
Do you mean uncheck the "+" marks? and "." mark for the Red one?

Also.
This one: FCOM_FrancescosNamedBosses.esp
Has become unchecked by itself. I'm sure I had it checked when I built the Patch.
Should I check it again?

Sorry for asking so much, but I don't really want this to fail... again :)

This is my LO, withouth touching anything after the Rebuild:

Load Ordering - http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/finishinstall/loadorder <-- Merged and imported (only) plugins are not active. The plus indicates merged, and the dot indicates imported only, so no...\

Yes. That plugin, at least in my setup, is not mergeable, so it should be active.

Edit: Unfortunately, I have to point out that if you have trouble with guards not behaving correctly, there is an issue with RGO 2.07 floating around... If you find you need an alternate suggestion for bounty and guard behavior, let me know...

Thank you very much. Everything works fine now.
Although I have two issues.

The first one seems to be a graphical one, I know I had this before moding.
In some angles, sometimes, in some places my screen turns green/gray-ish
lite this.

http://pici.se/597532/?size=fullsize

And in game. Every Item has a letter or letters infront of it.
Example:
A Iron Arrows
E Iron Axe
CH Iron briastplate

etc.
This last thing I think I know where to change it, in the Bashed Patch Tweaks. Correct me if I'm wrong.
And after I've changed it, I just rebuild the patch and run TES4LODGen and then its all done, right?

I just have to fix some Streamline inis and stuff.
But everything else seems fine.
Thank you yet again.

I'm off to bed now.
Cheers!

The first issue looks like the NVIDIA black screen fix issue. Does this go away if you turn off HDR? I think another cause could be a bad mesh or video card driver issue. There seem to be many types of blank screen issues, but since the HUD is visible, I am banking on the nVidia problem. The thing that bothers me about the description is that you said that the angle matters. That makes me think its a mesh problem or something. You might as well update your vid drivers, regardless.

The second issue is the bash tweak. Those tweaks are safe, unless I said otherwise on that page, so you can try playing with those on your own instead of asking. There are a ton of possible tweak configuration, and no one uses all of them, anyway...

The problem is sorted by turning of HDR.
Although when I had the problem it only appeared in first person, not if I scrolled out the camera.
I guess I'll try abit more, otherwise I'll go with Bloom instead.
Thanks.

Did you try all four fixes? The regular one, the bashed patch, the toggle fix and the sneak fix? (I guess you'd know whether or not you needed the sneak fix...) Try updating your GPU's drivers too.

Edit: Since turning of HDR fixes the issue, definitely looking at the nVidia quirk. Do you have AA on or anything? If you do, you should turn that off and force it on outside of the game. AA + HDR through Oblivion = bad...

Yes I've tried all of the fixes except the sneak fix, since I wasn't sneaking.
I've updated my videodrivers to the latest now. I have an 8800 GTS Geforce.

Its not possible to have HDR and AA activated togheter, atleast not for me.
I'll have to look in to this later today when I get home.

So wierd that it only happends in First person view.

Well off to work.
Cheers.

Edit:

I've discovered that the Unofficial Oblivion Patch may be the fault here. The screen only appears after I see the "Unofficial Oblivion Patch" key in the top left corner. Exactly as on the screenshot.
I read something about it to on nvidas forum, someone that had the problem just after the Unofficial patch.
I rather not disable it, or would that be advisable?
Cheers!

Do not disable it. That almost does not make sense. Wrye Bash has another nVidia fix that you can try, however. Right-click on the UOP and apply the nVidia fix that is in that plugin action menu. Just because you see that key in the top left corner does not mean that the UOP is at fault necessarily. I will link this thread in the UOP Supplemental thread, however, see if someone else has a clue. You do not need to install HDR + AA. I was just pointing out that issue in case you were trying to run that config. Also, the 8800GT, last I knew, does not have good AA support anyway.

If none of the fixes work (bashed tweak, stand alone esp fixes, etc.), you can also try disabling interior shadows. If you can live with bloom instead of HDR, that may be simpler, but when I ran into this problem with my old NVidia setup, I chose to keep HDR but disable interior shadows.

That remind me that there is another Oblivion.ini tweak, fspecular or something that causes some visual problems... should've bookmarked that, maybe I did...

This doesn't have anything to do with the UOP. Best bet is to use the bashed patch to apply the nVidia Fog Fix under Tweak Assorted. If that doesn't work, your only options are either to turn off HDR or turn off interior shadows.
