Bashur's Modded Oblivion Longplay!

You should try out Nehrim too, if you haven't already

But then he wouldn't really be playing Oblivion. ;)

I've honestly got no idea what sort of stuff you're looking for, but I'll happily point to my signature for a list of things to try!

The biggest stuff I'm looking for are things to enhance immersion. I'm not going to openly look for these things, because this Longplay is for the fans and people who want to show off their mods. I'll decide if I'm going to use it in the end, but if someone doesn't mention it in this thread, it probably won't make it into my Longplay.

So if you know any Immersion mods that you believe I should use, speak up! ;)

Well Bash, if you're looking for immersion, you may want to check out TheNiceOne's mods. Not only does he have mods for immersion (Enhanced Economy and Real Sleep Extended being two big ones), but he also has made several mods that make the game's interface better, like Enhanced Hotkeys and HUD Status Bars. http://www.gamesas.com/?showtopic=1037276

And while I'm at it... while not an immersion mod, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1114539-relz-wellspring-vale/. It's an absolutely amazing little village mod, with a really good quest and loot. There's even a player home.

Bashur, I just wanted to commend you on your hilarious character. Khaij the Khajiit has made me laugh harder than just about any movie. Thank you for that contribution.

So how's it going to go? Are you going to just like wander around and make up some random "free form roleplay" type story? are you going to do Oblivion quests? Are you just going to wander around doing random stuff? etc?

I did a quick skim of some of the videos, looks interesting I'll definitely be watching later when I have more time.

Would quest mods be considered? I mean obviously you don't wan't something that would distract too much of your time, like Gates to Aesgaard where you get transported to far off places and can't return until you're done some time later. Some quest mods blend pretty well and can be taken real quick, done, and then get back to whatever you were doing earlier. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22320 and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26219 have a lot of small quests like that (though Kragenirs isn't very big on immersion, and keeping with the setting) where you can just do a small part of the mod, and then continue on with your regular business without that feeling of pressure to: "hurry up and complete this super time sensitive quest line aHHHH!"(Like one quest where you just interview influential members of certain each race when you just happen to be in the area and talk to the right vanilla NPC... hard to explain.)

A more general suggestion: Maybe http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25835? To make your character getting a disease a little more dramatic, seeing as how he can spread it to other people and get sicker as time passes.

EDIT: Oh, yes and on the seamless-quest mods subject I'd definitely second the already mentioned Alyeid Steps. It's a small quest type thing based around a fun new random method of travelling places.

Another magic overhaul you might consider is Supreme Magicka. Also, I suggest you look at http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1037276-theniceones-nice-to-have-mods/ - he has a whole slew of gameplay enhancers that really make the game look nice and make it more pleasurable to play. He has the best hotkey mod out there (Enhanced Hotkeys).

My mods consist of a levelling overhaul, which I assume you wouldn't want to do in something like this and a "home improvement" mod. Imperial Furniture Renovated allows players to buy furnishings for their home. Once again, not sure you'd be getting into that level of detail :)

You should probably make sure you also grab the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27710 to round out the unofficial fixes for the game.

And if I may be so bold, tour the links in my sig for some more good stuff :)

Mod is self-explanatory. You will need the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21594 mod, too, otherwise you will get CTDs when you have a companion tagging along.

Deadly Reflex is considered the quintessential combat mod today, but because I lean towards Rogue characters, I instead swear by http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/514-duke-patricks-combat-archery-31a/, which is ultra-realistic and immensely satisfying.

Looking for immersion mods eh? You might want to try Enhanced Armory Realism (BEAR) in my signature. I wouldn't play Oblivion without it :)
And if you REALLY want to be a completionist, "Open All the Gates" will let you open as many - or as few - Oblivion Gates during the main quest as you want.

A bold endeavor!

There are so many amazing mods for OB... a line must be drawn somewhere or you'll end up spending too much time maintaining the game! Discrimination is needed... I can point out a few mods that may be of interest and may otherwise be overlooked:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9185

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4804

Clean, elegant weapons that will brutally savage the swathes of FCOM enemies. ACW hands nothing to you while challenging your detective skills whereas AEW offers it's goods for both a price and as hidden jewels.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13707 is the perfect companion if you use sword&board... the aesthetics are equal to Adonnay's work.

AFAIK, the only reasonable criticism for the above mods is that they may make you somewhat overpowered... but, depending on settings, FCOM can be very challenging without the proper tools (and always running around like a chicken in battle would not necessarily make for good watching :ahhh: ). These are some of the best options available when something must be put down immediately, and in style. These are the pinnacle of modded weapons/shields.

Otherwise, I can further highlight/heartily recommend a couple more: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25204 by Tejon... makes a big difference if using the detect life spell and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18305 greatly enhances the sense of immersion in the virtual world of OB. Also http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23064 is one of the nicest water mods.

OB with comic relief... very nice! :D

Loved your render test. This is something I'll be watching now and then.

One thing that always bugged me about vanilla is that everyone looked the same.
There's nothing disctinctive about the NPCs. They're all either butt-ugly or perfectly featured if you use one of the make-over mods.

You might look at http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8261.
Every NPC gets something different added to their facial features. Tats, scars, acne, stubble, etc.
The mod is a texture addon, so there's no esp. It uses the age slider to add the new textures to NPC faces and you can add something to your PC as well.

edit
just saw your captains quickie. unfortunately you can't get a beard, but you can get that "need to shave" look

Glad to see you're getting back into the LPs.

Here's a few mods that might be worth a look:
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20575 makes the world feel more alive by adding random travelers.
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6430 allows you to buy or pick up a bedroll to use while traveling.
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12367 disables the minigame and allows a more roleplay-friendly persuasion feature.
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19847 allows you to use the grab key on objects in stores without it counting as a crime. The NPC will watch you closely if you do grab something, to make sure you don't steal it. Also, if something falls on the floor, you can place it back and get a disposition boost. If you throw a bunch of stuff on the floor the NPC can get mad at you and throw you out or call the guards.

To add to the immersion: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18305
All Natural combines a robust custom weather system that allows the use of weather types from all existing weather mods with custom versions of Natural Interiors and Real Lights in order to provide the greatest weather/environment experience possible. The three segments of All Natural will be explained below:

1. Custom Weather System

The cornerstone of All Natural is unique weather system that includes a new regional weather script to keep the weather synced on interior/exterior switching and when fast travelling and a variety of optional features to help enhance and customize the user's weather experience. All Natural also allows you to choose from only vanilla weathers or from some or all the weather types from Natural Weather, Atmospheric Weather System, and Enhanced Weather.

2. Natural Interiors

Natural Interiors was originally created by Wormheart, and its purpose was to make it so interior locations such as houses and guilds would be affected by the weather outside and time of day, and to make it so interior locations had weather sounds inside very similarly to the original ?Weather Inside? mod. To accomplish this, interior windows were made transparent and the sky outside now matched the exterior weather and time of day. The result is you can look out an interior window and see a sunset, stars, etcetera and also have the interior lighting level change based on it being sunny, cloudy, nighttime, etcetera, plus you can hear rain/storm sounds from within.

Sadly, Natural Interiors was never finished and had some issues. However, All Natural now includes an improved and expanded version that cannot be found outside of All Natural. Also, the Natural Interiors segment of All Natural cannot be separated from All Natural, so you must use All Natural in full to benefit from the Natural Interiors segment.

3. Real Lights

Real Lights was an incredibly ambitious project by Josef K. which aimed to replace all the fake lighting (invisible lights with no actual light source) with real lights with real light sources. For example, with Real Lights locations have candles or other light sources that emit light instead of generic white light coming from mid-air.

Sadly Real Lights was abandoned long ago and has some issues with save game bloating. However, the mod has now been included in All Natural and has been recently updated to fix all the problems it previously had. The All Natural version of Real Lights is the most updated and safe version of Real Lights and no one should use the older stand-alone version. The Real Lights segment of All Natural is the only segment you can actually use independently, so even if you want to use, say, Enhanced Weather, you can use the Real Lights plugin from All Natural. Instructions on how to do this are included in the installation section of this guide.

We've all experienced it, ever since DarNifiedUI had ingame settings people have asked if they could be made permanent. Although this was not possible through conventional means, nowadays it can be done. So I present you just that: a mod that makes any ingame settings for DarNifiedUI stick. No more writing down the values, making a screenshot and searching for the config files.

Also works with DarkUI'd DarN!

Tired of having to open up the local map each time you want to know where you are in a cave? Well, not any more for this mod gives you a MiniMap, like in Morrowind. The layout is fully configurable to suite your taste. Do you want it in the upper right corner? No problem. Do you want it to be as big as half the screen? Once again, no problem. See the MiniMap.ini for more details and settings on the layout of the MiniMap.

1) Adds weather SOUND when you're in interiors, you'll hear rain, wind but the thing I added compared to Weather Inside is the fact that you hear PsychEroc's STORM and THUNDER sounds from interiors too! This adds quite a lot to immersion in my opinion.

2) Adds THUNDER and LIGHTNING. When it starts raining there's a 50% chance that thunder and lightning will kick in. So there won't be lightning only during thunderstorms as in previous mods of this type, I think that's better for variety.

3) Uses IMPROVED SCRIPTS with no placeatme calls: this means smaller save games and no activators clogging up the game world.

4) Introduces delayed thunder when lightning is distant

5) Has a CONFIGURATION MENU (see below): you can tweak parameters to your liking, make lightning hit farther or nearer depending on your taste, change the frequency of lightning and more.

6) Changes LIGHTNING COLOR and effect, SHOCK SPELLS look BETTER now in my opinion than in previous versions.

Well, it's all in the title this time. The mod simply adds working rainbows to the world of Tamriel.
It's not easy as it sounds, and it was most certainly the most difficult scripting challenge I have undertaken. Learning about animations wasn't a walk in the park, either.
Anyway I think it came out pretty well.

THE MOD IS COMPATIBLE WITH VANILLA WEATHER AND ANY WEATHER MOD.

Let's face it, we all like Oblivion to be immersive. Some of us just like a bit more realism, others like to add tons of mods which change how the game works in order to make it as immersive as possible. One thing that's a real let down in vanilla Oblivion are interiors. They look great, but day or night, rain or shine, they always have the same level of light inside them. This, to me, was extremely un-immersive.

All Naturals spectacular Natural Interiors came along, which allowed you to see through the windows of interiors, and the light levels and weather depended on the weather and time of day outside. This added a lot of realism. But you still had a simple problem. Every time you looked out of the window, you saw a void. Nothing. This mod looks to change that.

Immersive Interiors aims to bring huge amounts of immersion into the game. By using All Natural's superb interior weather system, this mod adds new found realism to the game, allowing you to see out of the interiors windows. This means you can be in the local pub, staring out of the window at the town around you, or watch the sun set behind the city walls out of your home's bedroom window.

The QTP 3 mod is the most popular.
Look at these graphics's mod. They're amazing! => http://tesnexus.com/modules/members/index.php?id=153868
Amazing textures too!! => http://www.tesnexus.com/modules/members/index.php?id=657829
A must have => http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34175

What wiseguy put ghoul skin on the emperor's face? Very shocking and amusing. Now I can't say that Vanilla Uriel was that scary. As for the video 1-4, it's very amusing. Doesn't K'aigh want to install Darker Dungeons and Dungeon Actors Have Torches?

Who knows what evil they have built in their new underground fortress!

One of the many oversights made by Bethesda was the irregular way the Havok physics engine and the crime system worked together. The Grab key, apparently, is under used due to the fact that grabbing an object, which belonged to an NPC, caused the crime system to add a bounty to the player, assuming that the player was `stealing` the object.
